Need or greed

This is a personal take. I'm seeing a lot of people with ilvl >630 rolling need on low level items, f*ing up sprouts leveling their first job, or other players that could need that item for a gear upgrade.

I mean, where's the point of that system if you can roll need on an item that doesn't actually upgrade your gear. I think you should only be available to roll need on an item with better ilvl or an consumable (minion, orchestrion roll, etc) you have not yet acquired.

You dont NEED an item for desynthesys, turning into GC, etc. That's basically same thing than selling it for gil in terms of need/greed.

This system is just pointless the way it is implemented.

People need to communicate what they want, if you want an item or you need this particular dungeon for levelling gear then speak up in chat, I’m perfectly happy to give it to you

If nobody speaks up then I’m just roll for everything for GC seals

Who has time to write anything when everyone rushes through each dungeon as fast as they can? Stop for 10 seconds to write a message, and you get left behind.

I need and greed on every single piece of gear in a dungeon because half of the time, that gear "hits the floor" and gets wasted. Instead of wasting it, I can get desynth materials or GC seals for stuff.
If someone wants a piece for glamour or they need a piece for stats, they can ask for it and I'll gladly pass on that piece if it appears. Usually people run the content on the job they want the gear on, so 9 times out of 10 they can just Need it and get it anyway. The times that it's a job that you have someone else there that's the same type, JUST ASK!

No one is entitled to gear from a dng. If you want gear and such. Its okay to ask. No one can read minds nor is everyone checking your gear.

I had to spam lapis for gear for dsr as a caster. Know what i did when another caster was there? I asked politely and they were more than receptive.

Just communicate. Gear is on a timer. Theres time to ask.

I mean... Yeah. The system is set up fair enough that the people who can use the gear can need on it and will usually get it, unless the other person is the same type of job as them. In that instance the easiest option is to speak with the other player and ask.
There's actually valid reasons for wanting the gear becides you need it for leveling. Crafting mats to level up crafters, raising desynth levels and getting achievements, getting seals for those boxes to get new minions, etc. And of course the Almighty Reason of all: glamour (even some of the earliest dungeons can have some good glamour gear)
I can't begin to count how many times I've assumed that a player in our party needs a piece and I pass on it thinking I'm being helpful, only for said piece to drop on the floor and then no one benefits at all from it.

Desynth and GC seals are legitimate needs.
If you need something, play that class so you can hit the Need button.
