    Same issue here with arch (kernel 6.8.1-arch1-1). The launcher starts with GE-proton8-21 and GE-proton9-1 but i get the same message. With other proton version it just get stuck in the "Final Fantasy" splash art.

    It looks like square enix disabled the login for linux.

    The reddit workaround worked for me.

    Dear all, I met the same issue, but solved it while using Lutris. I do not like Lutris much, but I have it as a backup since last year when SE moved to a new launcher which didnt work a while with Steam. Anyhow this solution works.
    Sorry for writting here, but all Linux users are here and someone could know the next uissue and its solutions. After one of updates I found wery weird character control behaviour: while moving with WASD buttons and occasionally clicking with mouse buttons camera automatically switches position from its normal position and start showing character in front. Hope I described the issue clearly.
    Why Im tuping its here? 'cause only Proton 8-05 did not have such issue but it seems like it does not work. Any ideas, solutions, tips?

    This is a bug that sometimes shows up due to the way mouselook works in games.

    When you hold the mouse button, the game hides the mouse pointer and moves it to the middle of the screen. Every frame, the game checks how far the mouse is from the center of the screen, turns the camera that amount and snaps the invisible mouse pointer back to the middle of the screen again. Then when you let go of the mouse button, the game moves the mouse back to its original position and turns it visible again.

    If the game or Wine or your OS gets the timing slightly wrong, the snap to the middle of the screen can make the camera jump around. The simplest way to work around it is to go in to System Configuration -> Mouse Settings and set it to Software Cursor.

    I've got a Wine build without the user32-rawinput-mouse patches that I use for FFXIV.

    One more solution from user Thunder from https://www.protondb.com/app/39210

    The following command to be able to hide wine from the game and be able to log in again and start the game. Used Proton-GE for this.

    WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.steam/root/steamapps/compatdata/39210/pfx winetricks hidewineexports=enable

    Of course change the path to a where your game/wine prefix is located.

    ah, should this be run in the terminal, or should it be put into the launch arguments for the game?

    It was copy-paste from protonDB webpage, but I suppose that it should be run in terminal. I will check it later when be home.

    UPD1:This option should be done in terminal.

    UPD2: fix did not work with proton 8-05, I switched to GE-Proton9-1 and launcher started to work well.

    Ive managed to get the game working, but oh boy was it a lot of work.

    I've managed to get the game playing on the SteamDeck, but it was a lot of work. My hope is, that by doing it this way I won't have any more problems in the future with any other updates. long story short, just added Windows to the SteamDeck since all my problems were with the Lynix launcher clashing with the Windows licence. I dual-booted Windows onto the SteamDeck with a micro SD card, and then just used the regular ffxiv Windows launcher from there. So far it works alright
