There's one person with a stupid old PC or some really weird/niche use case that is mega upset about this, maybe even cancelled their subscription. I remember the WoW forums when Blizzard killed Windows XP, Windows 7, DirectX 9 and 32-bit support... always that one person.

Lots of people see the executable name on crash, ffxiv_dx11.exe and assume all their problems are with DX11 (rarely the case, the exe just has dx11 in its name) and they change to DX9, that either doesn't crash or is at least more stable (the DX9 executable name was also ffxiv.exe, so obviously when that crashes, it's not a DX issue!). Then, when changing to DX9 seemingly does solve their issue, they never actually bother looking for the underlying cause, becasue treating the symptom has worked. There's one person with a stupid old PC or some really weird/niche use case that is mega upset about this, maybe even cancelled their subscription. Changing to DX9 was also a common troubleshooting step by the community despite support ending years ago...

It's not an "empty patch". It's pretty much setting the game into a state so it's ready for the next expansion. They added a few things related to upcoming events, some "catch up" things, probably infrastructure having to do with the cross DC testing starting on Sunday, and random little things. It's probably the last patch barring any hot fixes.
