I'd be down with Sephiroth playing a role in the game's story, but only if they make him a Lalafell.

How many more wheels can be ran off the FFVII bus? That game has been milked so much the teets have shriveled up and fallen off the cow.
The references to VII in this game alone is a mile long. Thanks, but no thanks. I need more VII like another hole in the head and would prefer this team continue to do things original to XIV, especially after effin up Myths of the Realm so badly.
Final Fantasy 15 is the third best-selling game in the franchise. Tabatha and the development team on it at the time just wouldn't consider it a success unless it hit 10 million copies sold, which it did after 5 years but moot point really. Final Fantasy 13 also received a cross-over event way back in the day and that series was also successful, though divisive. Having said that though, while FF7 Rebirth is freshly released and Part 3 is in the near future, I don't see them doing a cross-over event for it. We already got WEAPON trials referencing the game so I wouldn't put it past SE to do a Jenova trial at some point though.
Nah, we already had a long white haired person try to drop a meteor on us. Only one per reality.
FFVII is the most known title in the franchise worldwide and it's far recognisable enough to need any more reference than what they already have (*cough, cough* the VIIth legion trying to bring down a meteor on Eorzea, the Weapons, the magitek enemies inspired from FFVII mob, Unknown from Anamnesis).
If they're going to bring stuff from other Square Enix titles, I would rather they brought stuff from the less internationally known of titles, like they pretty much did with FF3, FFT and Tactics Ogre.
Less Nomura, more Matsuno
