I really want the community to start talking about the things we like in the game instead of just the things we don't like, so I'd like to take the time to talk about how much nicer the moogle tome event is compared to previous ones!
I always liked the moogle events in general, but they were always such a slog, even with blue mage groups blowing up certain fights. This is a MUCH nicer method of doing it! You still have the repeatable stuff for grinding if you wanna do it the old way, but this is so nice to get players to do other content! Being able to go fishing or do fates or play triple triad is not only a super good way to get players to branch out with potentially new content they haven't done before, but also just way more fun. (I'm even pausing writing this to go do a Leap of Faith, cause why not.) I went and did my fishing boat earlier, because I love them and I realized I hadn't done one in a while, so might as well go get those tomes!
The only thing that was a little strange was the Weekly Objectives vs Minimog Challenges, mostly just because they both are once a week type of thing, but the first is random for players while the second is for everyone (and you have two options to choose from).
The Minimog is fine, because as I said earlier it gives some interesting options to expand the range of activities for the event, but the Weekly Objectives seem like a weird mixed pot... I got Porta Decumana on one character and Stone Vigil (Hard) - which both feel long and/or annoying (still hoping they'll rework some of those lvl 50 dungeons....), while another character got Eden's Gate: Resurrection, which feels way shorter and more interesting, being higher level content. Really feels like you could get pretty unlucky on something that changes once a week (rather than maybe something that changes daily). And it seems like it can give you things that you don't even have unlocked. Another character got a lvl 50 dungeon she doesn't have (but at least it tells you the level and quest needed to unlock it). After comparing a bunch of characters, it seems like it will only give you duties from the list of Standard Objectives, so at least you're basically just guaranteed to get extra tomes for free.
Overall a great change to a previously-slog of an event, it's just the Weekly Challenges that seem a bit unnecessary or unfair (but I mean realistically speaking it's not THAT bad). REALLY love the other challenges, though, it would be cool to see more of that! Maybe other Gold Saucer stuff like chocobo racing or verminion (slight shudder there though, I don't understand verminion at all still...), or even stuff like hunts, Deep Dungeons, or Field Operations.
TL;dr. I definitely hope they keep doing the moogle events like this from now on.
