Thinking about it, wasn't the Class level in essence a form of "skill-up", being it was kept separate from the physical level before they removed it deeming it pointless and redundant.

Actually, they removed it because of players wanting it to be removed, not SE. P/S levels were fine in concept, in execution they could have easily fixed the problems with it rather than axing it, much like people wanted classes to be more unique, therefore they came up with a way and new system to allow that.
I actually enjoy this game, but I'm not blind to the glaring issues that clearly many, many more were that they wouldn't even touch this game while it was free to play for over a year. It's just an improper use of the word masochism in regards to XI when XIV will cause a lot more pain to people to play for all the wrong reasons. If someone is fighting to enjoy something to that extent maybe they shouldn't be doing it *(which is what the majority did after release)*
I stopped playing FF11 for that very reason, even with its unresponsively buggy mess I would sooner play FF14 than FF11.
Why must you go on and on about FF11, these are the FF14 forums, if you love FF11 so much go play it and go spout your nonsense over on the FF11 forums.
It sounds to me like you don't enjoy this game very much, why are you even playing ?
I am still playing this game because I quite enjoy it, if that makes me masochistic so be it(bring on the pain)
It's painful changing gear because you're ground to halt and it's painful checking bazaars because you have to literally humping them ontop of stationary, versus FFXI where you can check bazaars and buy from them across even 10+ cells, without even seeing them.
Also:
Between XI and XIV, XIV was the only unresponsive one, XI's interface was purely residing on the client and only attributes came from the server, even the checks between client and server in XI was 100x quicker than in XIV, even now. This is exactly why we're getting new servers for 2.0, a new client is obvious, but new servers? If XI was more buggy and unresponsive than XIV is, you'd think they'd be making an XI-2, no?I stopped playing FF11 for that very reason, even with its unresponsively buggy

You seem to love XI a lot, perhaps even a little too much. I can understand how you may want to make comparison after comparison, but it's not really necessary and always does very little to help you in your many crusades around these forums.Actually, they removed it because of players wanting it to be removed, not SE. Crystal Tools is the result of changing gear being cumbersome, and even checking bazaars being a pain in the ass. For the years, time and money spent in it's development, it's a horrible engine and should've only been used for single player games such as FFXIII and so forth; but even then, you might as well have a new engine. That's what we're getting.
I recently took a small, couple-days break from playing XIV to go back and play XI, and in all honesty I think XI was better before Abyssea.
On topic: FFXIV doesn't need skillups, ever. If I had to spend my time killing mobs over and over just to see a 0.1 or 0.3 like back in the old days I would be incredibly quick to unsub and find another game to play.
My character is 50. She has all of her skills on all of the jobs she has. It should stay that way; I think not having to buy scrolls or skills every couple of levels is a great system, and it should stay that way.
P.S. you can't check bazaars without seeing the player first rofl
