Viera have some really good hairstyles, and the headgear issues are only with hat and helmets. Head slot accessories such as glasses, flowers, ribbons and such all work.

So I just got a bottle of Fantisa! I’m wanting to make a awesome gothic or emo female character! I’m playing dragoon. My choices are Viera of Elf. Be honest which one is fun?

I will give my 2 cents as someone who loves both races equally. Stick to Roegadame until the Benchmark for DawnTrail is up, then make one Viera and one Elezen and see which you enjoy the most look-wise, the benchmark will allow you to see them in different lighting and environments. Keep in mind the new graphic update which will change the way base models look. This will save you a Fantasia, since you will get a free one anyway with the new expansion to adjust your character to your liking.
Instead of using your Fantasia now, wait for the benchmark, make your characters then and remain with one in case you ever change your mind/want to adjust the voice, etc. Also, you can save the appearance from the Benchmark and use it immediately when the new expansion is up.

I would wait, as others have said.

And elezens don't really have a long neck, they just have a tiny head so the neck look really long. Actually look at them and you will see what I mean. The head is so tiny compared to the rest of the body.
