Would you like to see the current stat system revised or redone for FFXIV 2.0?

Would you like to see the current stat system revised or redone for FFXIV 2.0? I personally would atleast like to see the the stat values dropped significantly, i think the values are way too high for my liking anyways and it just seems difficult to makes sense of how much more stats actually makes a difference to things like magic damage, melee damage, gathering, crafting etc.

    Yes yes 100000 times yes.

I still think the stats system is pretty meaningless its better than it was at launch but could do with making upgrades be more noticable.

They really should consider removing Dlvl or making it less noticeable on the way it effects stats and remove some of the silly caps, players should beable to customise their character how they see fit.

Make hit rating (accuracy) and crit rating more prominent also.

I hope 2.0 is using completely different calculations for its stats system.

Besides this they need to make crafting stats more effective and include what recipes favour magic craftsmanship and standard craftsmanship.

I'm going with no here. And a big no on some of Jinko's ideas.

MORE empasis on accuracy? Dragoons already got over a major hurtle in having their accuracy penalties removed, and you would reimpose them on everyone? I hope you mean that Accuracy is more effective on higher level monsters, rather than imposing higher requirements than is already there.

To be honest, I feel that the current system has a good balance. We don't need FFXIV reduced down to a spreadsheet like it was with FFXI. The ability to preform your job should be superior than having a narrow field of gear you 'should' equip to be effective. It's going to be bad enough for some people to keep up once the power creep starts and people haven't even gotten over their AF obsessions yet.

More importantly, if the stats are altered, I wish it's done in a way so that there is many routes to the same goal, where one person can make a Crit Build, and another a standard DPS build and the two would still come out relatively the same.

That way, multiple different styles of each job or class build can take root based on preference and the feeling of experimentation isn't lost on the players less than a year into 2.0

You haven't looked at much data testing for XIV, have you? It's already "a spreadsheet", even more so because things are still shakey in calculations in certain regards. You see "spreadsheets" because that's datatesting and parsing.

You find the exact same in any other MMO worth it's salt.

the two would still come out relatively the same.
Yoshi wants to avoid this, the whole purpose he reformed the class/job system to being with.

Can you point to a source? My understanding was that the stat reforms were to make it easier for players to properly stat their characters, not to make one gear set per class the only good choice.

Yes. On that note: SE, for the love of Pete, please cut down on the invisible game mechanics. I played for months before I found out about stat caps. Is it really so bad to have a stat turn to red text in the attributes menu once it has hit a cap?

What I'd like to see is an end to this hocus-pocus approach to stats. Do it like Blizzard; just explain what all the stats do, how they do it, what the calculations are, etc. And put a stop to +1 and stuff like that and just list the percentage. For food, drop the complexity and just give solid feedback about what items do.

Agreed, it would be much better for the whole community if they were 100% transparent how calculations work, especially with the addition of Addons in 2.0 players are going to want more information.

Sometimes I wonder if they even know themselves what stats do half the time lol.

Your food comment confuses me, unless my eyes are making things up I'm pretty sure all food says what it does maybe you just don't understand how it works? If a Food says STR 15%(15) that means you'll gain up to 15 STR based on your max STR up to 15% so if you have 200 STR you simply do 200 x.15 and you get 30, but since the food is only max of 15 you'll only receive 15 STR but you'll know that with said food you'll be able to get all the benefits of it. Of course though they also have a description of food to say how much of the effect you get I believe when you get full effects it's "divine" so it's not like there aren't things to figure out the benefits of food and if you want to know how much benefits food offers it's simple math.

100% transparency. Yep. That's what we need.
