Despite appearances, this is not a free-to-play game. Whining is the safest alternative to everyone cancelling their subs and turning this company bankrupt. You want Square Enix to be acquired and Yoshi-P laid off like they did at Blizzard? I don't think you support FFXIV half as much as the people who are raising complaints about it.

One of the things WoW does best is actually having you go around the world and retro fitting old dungeons for events, even adding in some world pvp to them. Wish XIV could stop trying to be an isekai anime for once and just be a real world MMO and have us PLAY the game over just watching e couples clog up the vendors for everything. But what do I know, apparently asking for more content means you hate the game and should quit around here.

It's like most of the playerbase turned into entitled gamers.

To this day, I still wonder why they are gatekeeping all the NPC emotes and housing items we see in the world, instead of releasing those as rewards to stack up on the lacking rewards in some content, but recoloured Goobbueee mount, yaaaay...

I have said this once, and I'll say it again. FFXIV has the worst events in MMOs. Almost every single other MMOs gives you more event rewards with actual engagement than FFXIV, which is limited to a quest or two, and a single quest reward.

Events in FFXIV are not really events. They're time-limited quests with time-limited rewards that are going to the cash-shop if you don't subscribe and do them.

To me it's not that the events are bad so much as they're essentially FOMO content never to be seen again.
I think I might feel different about what content we get if all or at least most of it just made a return on the next year.
Not that the quest-based nature of the events would make a big difference for veteran players who did those quests but it would serve to make the seasonal holiday events seem bigger for new players and could open the door to more replayability in event content.
And I still hate that the only way to get past event rewards is buying them from the cash shop.

They went to the effort (however much that may be) of creating those quests and cutscenes. Just retiring them forever after having them in the game for two weeks seems like a bit of a waste of development resources.

I like the way GW2 does holidays, while there is new content every year it's not a massive amount of it, usually amounting to a short quest and a handful of new skins. Most of the content being replayable and coming back every year is what makes their festivals so interesting.
