I am happy to recant my criticisms, now that the paint colors make sense mechanically and it still has a lot more watercolor tints in its broader kit.
I'm quite surprised how well it ties together several FF characters: Relm, Moogle, and Eiko. Other than the fact that it is railroaded like every other job, and the fact that it is stepping so hard into geomancer/GRM territory I am worried we may never get a GRM, it really is a good design.
COLOR me surprised.
I still dont think the effects fit
I don't really think a lot changed but maybe they improved the resolution of the effects a little bit. At the very least /in practice/ it didn't look as odd as the initial reveal. Maybe because we're seeing it at a 'normal play' distance.
Thank goodness the 'splat' clip art effects from the trailer (the worst offender imo) looked like just a trailer prop.
In terms of job flow and thematic design PIC looks to be the best class we have gotten since like SB when RDM was a flawless out of the gate caster
The animations are strong, thematic, fun without goofy and the skills look powerful
I honestly couldn’t come up with a criticism if I tried except maybe star prism and rainbow road I’d love to use more than once per 2 minutes
yeh, altough I'm slightly disapointed that there are only 1 canvas for weapon and landscape. Definitely the second caster I level up.
I would have liked if weapon maybe had two different looking canvases that did the same thing (or maybe one was like a 3 instants the other was 2 instants with a longer GCD so they had the same effect) but I’m happy with landscape being a single portrait given it’s the raid buff
Maybe they could make the landscape a 1 minute where the “off minute” landscape just grants colour inversion and rainbow road but not imagine sky and the SPS buff that full landscape offers
Still it’s got a lot more moving parts than I imagined it would
SE is known for being really stingy when it comes to give 'toys' every xpac... I'm not surprised by the amount of features.
8.0 we'll probably get new stages for the weapon canvas (like the creature one) and maybe a second Landscape.
Meh, the motifs were underwhelming. Pretty bare bones for a job about artistic expression. I like the element and beast motif, but the single weapon motif and single landscape motif is lacklustre.
