The mudras require more memorization than most jobs to remember which combination does what, and in which order you want to use them optimally. It's also rather unforgiving if you fat-finger the wrong combination, although at least nobody's likely to notice the rabbit on your head, since as a melee job you'll be buried under everyone else's flashy effects anyway. On top of that, ninja's old niche of aggro manipulation no longer exists.

I mostly see NINs not doing consecutive Trick Attacks for some reason

    Game needs actual job tutorials

The whole Doton thing on a single target is probably just because for a lot of the game's history, it was at minimum as good as Raiton and potentially better by 1 tick, if the boss would last long enough and stand still to get hit by all the ticks. So a lot of returning players or people picking up Ninja again after years would not necessarily know it changed at first.

It becomes muscle memory just like anything else after a time. For standard ninjitsu, all that matters is the last input, the previous input(s) can come in any order. Only where TCJ is concerned does the order of mudra matter, and like I pointed out in my last post, TCJ is an abomination of a skill that should never again see the light of day.

I actually like TCJ and it helps teach how the mudras work actually. But if something hits me or I get cleaved while using it, the party is just gonna have to understand, because I can't move.

Just go play SMN if you think DPS rotations with learning curve and extra steps are "outdated".

This is mostly because the order the game puts them on your bars is wrong. The game encourages you to put them on your bar in the order heaven-earth-man. If you put them in the order earth-man-heaven (Chi Jin Ten) most of them make a lot more sense.
    • Huton: earth man heaven - energy flowing from the lowest point, through the caster, into the air
    • Doton: heaven man earth - energy is flowing down through the caster into the earth
    • Raiton: heaven earth or man earth - lightning strikes downward
    • Katon: earth heaven or man heaven - flames rise.
    • Suiton: (earth heaven) or (heaven earth) then man: gathering energy from all around and taking it in. This jutsu buffs you so you can use Trick Attack.

That just leaves Hyoton, which I have no good reminder for.

Ninja wasn;t hard before and and is even more easy now, if people aren't using mudras then I blame the lack of proper class and job based tutorials.
