Question about data center travel Duty Finder

    Hello all,

I have been out of the FF14 loop for a while and stopped playing because there were no high-end duty games in the party finder (Primal data center) after a previous patch. I learned that everyone was going over to the Aether data center for raids and such.

Will square Enix change all of this with the new expansion coming out in a few months?
Will they make the duty finder compatible with all data centers so we don't have to leave our home data center just to find a raid group?

I would like to come back to the game, but can't due to this stupidity of players all gathering on one data center.

    Thank you.

They are aware of a similar issue in the Japanese region, where everyone goes to Mana to raid. They said they plan to address this, but implied it would take some time (ie. until shortly before Dawntrail, or shortly after Dawntrail).

They did not seem to be aware that this issue affects the NA region (so they were unaware that we go to Aether to raid). They also seemed unaware that people in the EU region go to Light to raid. But hopefully the fix they apply for the JP region will help us in the other regions as well.

As for cross-data center PF, that is more complicated and while it could be possible, I would say not to particularly expect it any time soon. It could take them until, say, the end of the Dawntrail patch cycle (2-3 years) before they add that, if they go ahead with it. While it could be their solution to the Mana problem, it would likely take a lot of work and testing to make sure it's safe so it's unlikely they will add it until the end of Dawntrail.

If it happened across regions, they would need to decide which region you are all traveling to as well. And someone would lose out in terms of ping. But it would be a lot easier for them to do it within the same region due to it all being in the same physical location.

The best you can do is not be part of the problem and only raid on your own DC.

They've said they have the ability to implement cross-dc party finder, but unless the Japanese players are making a stink about it, I wouldn't expect them to work on it much.

As was said above, it's affecting the JP playerbase as well and Square is aware of it. Just no real answer on how long it'll take a solution to come in.

They are definitely working on it because it was definitely not the intent of cross DC to become about living on a different server than the home world server. Savage creates enough social issues as is just from the severe execution and learning requirements, the last thing the devs want is to force people into choosing between savage and the less stress inducing content, which is what this entire expansion ended up doing anyway due to the nature of the DC travel. It didn't matter if someone was on the JP servers, EU servers, or US servers.

They might have to bite a bullet and do it anyway because it's that, or program everything new to work within the limits of cross DC travel. Given Island Sanctuary was built during the period where they introduced this feature and access is restricted to when one is on their homeworld, my money is on the former solution of just making PF work across worlds / DCs versus the opposite. That and the servers are going to be unstable anyway if every single person during a launch of an expansion is trying to pack themselves like sardines onto one DC. If it was just massochists running savage and ultimate that were doing it, it wouldn't be much of a problem. However, this has turned into a scenario where people doing hunts, deep dungeons, PvP, and other team activities are going to aether to reap the benefits.

The truth is that people who do hardmode content make content more efficient for those who are less skilled, which often is enough to get even casual players to travel to aether to do things. This is one reason why I never liked the idea of savage being an item level treadmill ages ago before I ended up diving into it. Even now I'm finding a lot of the observations and comments I made back then to be true about savage.

They could or I mean they could just disable anybody's ability to use party finder or enter Savage, ultimate, pvp or criterion content when DC travel. Basically make DC travel just for story quest, dungeons, maps and roulettes. If I'm thinking like a company this makes the most sense because if it's too unstable you can't push it forward because that will cause people to be upset that is unstable for and possibly could lose customers especially potentially new Xbox players you're trying to bring in they're not going to want to deal with an unstable game so you pretty much would kill a new player base, but the restrictions you might lose some players, you might get upset but then you pay the transfer your character so we get an uptick in sales of other people transferring to a DC (obviously till DC is full and then nobody can go there) and this would counter what you lost, also Xbox players who are new coming in would really know what they're missing because not many of them would have experienced it.
