itll have to get DIRE for us to get to BFA, shadowlands wasnt fantastic either. At least dragonflights ok? from what my friends sayWhile I don't think XIV is in imminent trouble (like WoW was by the end of their BfA expansion), I really wonder how long it will last if it remains leaning on the same formula beyond Dawntrail.
I'm reserving judgement for when the expansion is out, but I don't think I'll last another expansion with the same issues from Endwalker. I'll probably just buy for the story and then quit until it's 7.55 and resub again for a month to finish the storyline without interruptions.
Oh, defnitely... Far from me to put them in the same aggravation of disaster, but it's funny - while WoW imploded back then for doing too much: 2137678162 currencies, layers and layers of borrowed power, absurd RNG, obligation to log every day to be competitive.
XIV remains at the extreme opposite of that spectrum: novel systems/structures are very rare to come by and when they do, they are cemented - the recurring design overall (job design specially) gives a feel of stasis, compared to the chaos that WoW (used to? idk nowadays) brought. My question is how long this 'rest on safe formula' can last until it sours really badly. I really didn't want to see XIV get to the bottom of the barrel to some damage control movement restore it.
Now, that's my western point of view. I'm very aware that the JP playerbase have different ideas, and Idk if I'm alienated to that or not, but from the scarce bits I see around, it gives the impression that they are content with the structure of the game right now.
The JP and CN playerbases want change as well and are very tired of the lack of developer interaction with the game. The CN Director thinks how Yoshida handles the game isn;t great ironically. They just do it on their social media platforms.Oh, defnitely...
