Don't listen to Chicken Little, the game isn't in trouble. Can it be improved? Of course it can. But the so-called 'issues' constantly brought up are entirelly subjective and only based on personal preferences and gameplay styles. If the game really was so bad, why are servers still congested? Why is Balmung still locked? Because people are still having fun.

Everyone move along. Nothing more to see here.
Congestion is artificially made as well to help stagger logins, if we're referring to how every server still makes you wait to log in. Even Dynamis has it and we all know they're on their last leg atm in terms of population.

If you mean server locking, it's accurate that Balmung has always just had a higher population because it's the main RP/ERP hub in Crystal. They've been shut down for over 6m now because people spam transfers there when they do open and pack the place (I'm of the mind that it's something of a status symbol amongst some of the RP community to live on Balmung). You'll see the other DCs shuffle servers around as normal.

The whole community part will keep this game alive. Good looking characters / races, glamour, emotes, housing, music... You really can live in this game and hang out with your friends. Alone that you can look at each other when you sit around a table. This game feels alive.

Then of course the whole subscription model and no shady pay to win stuff.

Even when the gameplay sucks this game has too much speaking for it.

But - they can't just keep this for granted forever. When someone else comes along and does it better (or nearly as good) but with better gameplay then FF14 could be in trouble. The game could be better. But there is no better option out there.

It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.

From my anecdotal evidence, I think that the game is fine as far longevity. I say this because there's still a queue whenever I login, no matter the time. I remember there not being a queue before Endwalker was released. Also, we have Xbox players joining the fray.

Nope. If WoW can still support a lively community in its current state, then FFXIV will go for a lot longer yet. Servers might come and go in terms of general population but there's enough community support to keep this up and runnining more or less indefinetly.

Might come a time when it adopts a different payment method or drops updates and the like.

It's kind of normal to get feelings like this when there's a content lull.

Developer Alphas and players having a hand in the development of a new expansion? Highest clear rate in recent expansions? Large amount of rewards per patch as well as consistent engagement for players of all skill lvls and play styles? Yeah if WoW Can do it anyone can!

Two disastrous expansions in a row resulting in base player population falling to about 1/6 of its former glory? Highest clear rate (based on?) because only the people who do that kind of content are still playing? Recycled events and standard rewards, with the esports crowd overwhelmingly catered to? That seems a much more accurate description of WoW. FFXIV meanwhile is either still on the rise or currently at its apex, certainly not well into its fall...

I mean I played the entire expansion and I felt rewarded for my time and money, which is the main point, and while EW was fun when I was doing savage and Ults, can't say much for the rest of the expansion. Your take of it being in it's fall is a personal one, I'm going off of what I've seen people saying about EW as well as my experience and how many people I've seen clearing, raiding, and flourishing in Dragonflight. And while theres detractors in WoW, there I can see if it's because the games bad or if they're bad with no repercussions.

There is currently a lack of content to bridge the long break until the 7.0 expansion is released. Temporary events and collecting mogmog stones are not enough.

In the long term, a reboot of Final Fantasy 14 on a new engine is necessary. This is the only way to overcome the annoying hurdles with a meagre inventory, chaos instead of order in the menu structure, obstacles with prismatic projections and instanced houses by eliminating the spaghetti code.

At least the old engine will receive a graphics upgrade with the release of 7.0.

An upgrade of the boss mechanics also seems necessary to me. Currently, the attack and AOE mechanics are played stubbornly one after the other mechanically with variations. This is now exhausted.

In future, a weak artificial intelligence should take over the mechanics, whose intelligence is adjusted depending on the level of difficulty. Bosses could also consist of herds in FATEs. It would also be conceivable to set traps or have parts of the boss shot off, as in "Horizon Zero Dawn" or "Horizon forbidden West".

If the development team realises this, Final Fantasy will easily see the year 2040 as the best MMO.

In the current version, Final Fantasy has broken all records in terms of time spent playing in my free time. That alone counts in the end and is high praise for the developers.
