I see many more players in my server EU in big cities, many parties and events even more now. It's so hard to tell, but I think Dawntrail is going to be a chill expansion, many people going to like it.. I think maybe this time around they going to fix many systems inside the game, who knows...

Not really. So the context is a little self explanatory but if requested I can explain in detail.
Given the way the game currently works right now using stb/shb and ew as a point of reference. And what we've seen on dawntrail thus far. Do you personally think the game is in trouble or in danger of failing/deing due to it.
What do you predict will happen to 14 in 3 or 5 years. Do you think it can change? Or will. Do you think the games health is impacting the mogstation too?
What could the devs do to improve the game? Or are people blowing things out the water? I'd love to hear your thoughts
Try and make a new character and go through it all from the beginning again, it is refreshing.
Also in in waves, the game get what we wish for in general, however it is spread out over the expansions, what is left is to actually enjoy that content as it is.

14 is never going to hit the highs of late ShB/early EW again, it may plateau for a bit for another expansion or so (though EW’s patch drop off has been much harsher than usual) but it will never clear that peak again
FFXIV is fine, but it has definitely peaked. I suspect we're going to see more and more changes over time to try to make the same amount of money they did during the late ShB time period.
The online store will almost definitely continue to get more egregious and we will see less unique stuff in game to try to drive people to the store. They're already doing it with fan merch and such, so it will definitely reach the game itself eventually.

The fair weather WoW players will come back to FFXIV for every big enough patch so Dawntrail launch will be the new peak.
A few things.
They wouldn't spend this much time on a graphic upgrade if it was in maintenance mode.
FFXI has been out for 10 years longer and it still gets content.
If you don't like the content. Hopefully there is something that can scratch your itch.
As for my hubby and I We played FFXI for years, Then D&D while there was rolling power outages in Japan, Then some Wow which my hubby liked a little and continued to play after I went back to FFXI. When FFXIV came out I switched to it.
A few months later my hubby came on board. When while we waited for 2.x we went back to FFXI. Once 2.0 came out we have tried a handfull of other mmos but keep coming back to FFXIV. My hubby doesn't even like FFXI at all now he says it's to slow, and the graphics don't hold up.
For not FFXIV will be our home and when we take breaks it's mostly to play a signal player game.
I didn't check the OP data center but Crystal is pretty damn full with login queues on most servers every hour of every day. Sure a auto AFK logout would fix this and I don't know why SE doesn't use one on congested servers but ya it's hoping.
Until there are no servers without X's I wouldn't even think servers are slowing down.

Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!
