End Game being pvp and savage almost exclusively is like going from a fun experience to the most stressful one you can find in gaming. And then winning one reward only to have another one show up the next patch and impulsively going after the new goal is what a lot of people end up doing regardless of their mental health. It's gotten to the point where I can't tell if the content attracts those in poor mental health, or peoples mental health just goes into the trash from doing it.
Except thats a massive exaggeration of people who play endgame content, just like it's a massive exaggeration that all people who RP are horny 24/7. Because XIV does def attract people with poor mental health, but it's not because they have a hobby that involves the end game made for them. But thats a conversation this community doesn't want to have. Stop the cap.

Also what I'll never understand is that any attempt at asking for more replayablility is met with people acting as if their casualness is being directly threatend by it. Like no one is asking for casual content to be removed so we can have content thats fun to replay/more indepth content and job designs. Unless people feel as if CBU3 and Yoshida can't do one without messing up the other, but if they're as capable as they're made out to be a request like that shouldn't be an issue, especially given it was done for several expansions until now.

Because in the end, we're just expecting what they've done before, what they are capable of. But apparenty a billion dollar company is incapable of that.

well then where are the people that wanna do criterion/savage with me then? the fights seem fun and i want the title but with low/bad rewards any drive to do so is gone. and if you messe dup and didnt do it month one theres little to no one recruiting.

The hell even counts as "casual" content anyways? so many people want a exploration zone again, but back during shb all i heard from ppl , here, discord, twitter, was how much they hated it.
same thing happened with deep dungeon.

It's almost like different people have different tastes and different implementations of the same concept get different receptions. Wild.

My social circle hated Eureka but loved Bozja and is looking forward to see how they implement the exploration zone this time.
They loved PotD and HoH (before burning out on those anyway) while the EW DD just wasn't "it". They're stil going to be excited for a new Deep Dungeon, unless the next one too turned out to be a dud and tempered future expectations.

I haaaaate that the new Deep Dungeon got ignored like it did, I love it so much, and I dig the criterion dungeons but I don't blame people for not wanting to do given how they structured the rewards after they finally added them. It's why I hope they bring back the armor and weapon contests in DT and add the winners to the dungeons.

To honestly discuss the topic I will say that we have been doing a lot of the same things for a long time, and without something changing or bringing a renewed energy to the game it will probably experience slow decline. That isn't really that unusual for the MMO space though, no one remains on top forever and XIV isn't any different. I doubt it will actually shut down any time soon, but will probably end up in the same state as XI in a few more expansions with a small but dedicated community keeping it aloft.

I also can't help but feel that, that's what SE will most likely do, this game can certainly last for another 10 years like Yoshida wants. But in what state is another question. Because the formula works, but the people who bring life to it with new ways of viewing it and approaching things will def not be here as often if at all if we have 2 more expansions like this.

When you consider time-scales, "a few more expansions" can mean something like 6+ years away, which is a huge amount of time.

I say this because there's still a queue whenever I login, no matter the time. I remember there not being a queue before Endwalker was released. Also, we have Xbox players joining the fray.
The login queue is a result of the login server now processing logins in "batches" rather than continuously. It's not an actual reflection of the state of the game. That said, the game clearly has an extremely healthy population at the moment, given things like Aether hunt trains going back to server-specific instead of being announced DC-wide with the latest patch because of how large they were getting.

Yes, that would be why it is a slow decline. I don't think XIV is going to even consider ceasing content creation for a number of years, and even then it will probably continue with events and maybe some new things here and there but not an expansion. This game could go on for another 10 or so years before it settles into a state like XI, but those years could see a slow but steady decline in active players.
