When will 1.0 go offline?

As a player who recently returned (from a time when there was no official forums...) I just found out that 1.0 is supposed to go offline, supposedly, prior to the release of closed beta and remain offline until open beta concludes and 2.0 is officially released.

Has there been any conclusive information released about this? I'm wondering if it's worth trying to play for just a month or two, to only have to go on a 5+ month vacation again once beta starts.

Is there a specific reason why they don't run 1.0 up until the open beta then transfer character data over?

I haven't heard much in the way of definitive information, honestly.

What I'm hoping is that people who are currently subbed and continue to be subbed through the 2.0 transition will all be invited into the 2.0 beta and that they can continue testing & playing throughout that period of time. Everything that they do in the game at this point continues as regularly, is saved, even through the 're-launch'.

I don't know if that's what their planning, but it's definitely what I'm hoping! Haha.

It's not just an engine change but a server restructure as well so they have to make sure our data is save correctly, etc. In an interview Yoshi mentioned it will take awhile, but he knows the community is there and wants to keep it that way.

As for if it's worth it I think 2 months is enough time to get a few things done. You probably can enjoy some of the current story line before it's gone depending on your playtime. I've read sometime late september and early october as when beta starts and that's when 1.x server will go down too. Here's to hoping it's only one month or less!

Yeah, I'm sure that he wants to keep the downtime as short as conceivably possible. It's important to keep his current customer base and the way to do that is make this transition as short and as easy as possible on his subscribers.

He's no dummy as we've clearly seen so I feel pretty good putting my faith in him. I'm so excited for 2.0, it's crazy, haha.

i wonder if the GMs can enlighten us even a little bit >.> right now its totally in the dark. From what yoshi said in a early interview i got the assumption that it could be 1 month but the latest beta seasons pple can assume up to 3-4 months. All this is too broad...
