    Allowing players to wield left handed wouldnt take long, as Wilksha explains, seriously stop resource policing SE - we have no idea what they have and dont have what they can and cant..

    A really hard idea might actually be really easy to them if they had already had similar code just sitting around waiting to be recycled - really even Yoshi might not know the resources fully until he goes around and talks to everyone "how long would this take you to do?". (Yoshi likes to keep close with the team and has understanding of code so I suspect he has a better idea then usual).

    Edit: PS3 can handle lefty right animation mirroring - there are loads of games that already do this.

    Actually my verbose explanation isn't actually that long of a method. It's just a single step. and that's just X coordinate mirroring. That is if a line splits you in half that is perpendicular to both the direction you are facing and the ground you stand. Your left hand would be your right hand and you right would be you left, continuing to everything. This effect also flips the orientation of these flipped part so after all the flipping only the distinct markers will have moved "visually." The marks could be birthmarks, scars, you dominate hand, etc. Basically It's the same effect you would get by looking at yourself in a single flat mirror.

    Short version: single step done just before storing model to memory for use.

    Power to the lefties! I really hope Se can implement this without too much trouble.
    Any contact in the cutscenes don't bother me as much. I can deal with either hand when interacting with others. As long as I'm standing there with sword drawn in my left hand I'm good.

    And as for the mirroring goes...(memories of Twilight Princess mirrored completely just to have Link right handed in the Wii version)....well. To be honest I'd prefer dedicated animation for lefties. I'm studying Computer Animation (weeks from graduation! Yessss!) and if I've learned anything from my directors (All with dreamworks / Disney backgrounds) It'd be better to have separate animations. But with time limitations...mirroring is an option. Though they DO have until what..July? I know they have a ton of work to do until then. But I feel this would be very easy to implement in that amount of time.

    I'm a lefty, and while it would be neat, I doubt we'd see it in this game. It isn't that it is hard (which has been discussed already), but moreso that it'd be a major change to the animation system, which is a beast of a system for any game these days. If it were planned from the beginning and was built into it as the system was developed, it wouldn't be an unreasonable request, but at this stage of development, you wouldn't want to make those sorts of changes to such a complex system.

    The problem with unique animations is that they then need to be loaded into memory. I hate to pull the PS3 limitations card, but given everything else they are trying to fit into a small budget as it is, having to deal with so many variant possibilities at once would take up precious space that could be much better spent.
