FF is for fashion

I have been working online in 3D design and fashion for nearly 20 years. And Final Fantasy has been a leading light during that time. The fashion is unique distinctive and commands a world leading position in the online fashion world. Hundreds of websites are devoted to Final Fantasy fashion, and millions of pages of screenshots of people's favourite looks can be found from all over the world.

Even in the real world, seamstresses have tried to make versions of Final Fantasy clothing for people to wear to events, and artists have been inspired by the classic FF style to paint and draw elves and cat girls.

How sad it is now to see the Mogstation store full of copies of modern clothes! It is as if Giorgio Armani or Channel had given up their role as world fashion leaders and lost all their signature style and decided to make jeans and jumpers!

Please if you are going to employ new artists to create FF fashions then employ those who love the existing brand and are capable of adding to it and emulating its glory. Don't employ artists with no imagination who can only copy modern rubbish.

It is also ruining the whole environment of the game. Final Fantasy is full of dragons and sylphs and Miqo'te, yet it now has puffer jackets and what on earth is that hoodie thing with the particles? is that supposed to be a bad smell coming from it? It looks ridiculous. Modern clothing just doesn't fit with the game at all. The fantasy is being lost, the great fashion status destroyed, the game itself corrupted.

Of course things change and evolve, in fact many of the famous European fashion houses now employ younger artists, like those who work under the brand name of Armani, but their work continues his great sense of style and his distinctive look. This is what is needed in FF too, for a new generation of designers to take that fantasy to a new level. Not to throw it in the trash and turn a game, famous for its fantastic imagination and fantasy lore, into a copy of a boring modern street!

Because variety between fantasy-fitting and modern real world, in a franchise that lore-wise possibly could break the boundaries between realms reaching a version of our world or, get this - fashion evolving to simplicity and modernity by its' own is clearly an outrageous thing.

I'm not a fan of all the streetwear, either. But one visit to any major city shows that it's extremely popular, so it's bringing a lot of money for SE and that's all they care about.

For what little it's worth, I'm with you OP. Don't really vibe with their approach of just... plastering moogles and cactuars onto designs otherwise indistinguishable from everyday clothing...

i just find the fantasy armors lacking, if youre not playing a female of like 3 of the races, the armor fits horribly, or just isnt designed for your gender all together, every thing is frills and fringes, tights and heels, or on men, dresses that look awkward and belts and floating capes that all float 2 feet out from your body, everything is a mid riff, thigh high boots.. excreta...
we haven't gotten a single WHM set that could be remotely called androgynous, even hairstyles, whens the last hairstyle added to the general game that was geared to male characters?

the entire game is dress up wifu boutique, cant even get a set of armor added that isnt created to be cutsie.
i will rock a lot of the modern sets just because its the only gear in the game that doesn't make me feel like my character is trying to get a job from joe biden..

I personally don't mind the clothing options presented. Some like it, others don't. In the end it's your choice to wear it or not. What I have a issue with is re used assets being thrown back into the game with the name changed and SE thinking we wouldn't notice. I'd personally feel embarrassed but that's just me. The way the game is being directed to being more open to a wide audience opens for more people to either buy it or pass on it and since SE is a business it's only natural. Just thank god you don't have to buy a horse for $60 like some other company..

I just imagine all the modern looks being isekaid into Eorzea. Hence no matter how good they are, in dungeons they still look confused and out of place and Limsa is just the place where the dimensional fabric is the thinnest and that's why people pop out there especially.
