Back on topic a bit, if griefing really was a concern with a healer using their own HP pool as a buffer of sorts, what about putting that mechanic on a summoned totem? Bonus points if it needed to be placed/moved to avoid mechanics in general but gave appropriate rewards if kept alive++

LV96 Trait: Enhanced Fey Union, while tethered, the player splits the damage taken with the Fairy, with the player taking 80% of the damage, and the Fairy taking the other 20%. This effect cannot reduce the HP of the Fairy to zero, and if it would, the damage transfer effect is negated, causing the tethered player to take the excess damage in the Fairy's place.

(aka it's spirit link totem but ST, using the Fairy)

OFC, we can't have such a thing now because the Fairy does not have 'HP' per se, I guess it could be simplified down to something like 'while tethered, the target takes 10% reduced damage' or something

Funny thing about sage and scholar is that I feel like they're more of a regen healer compared to WHM.

Fairy/kardia is basically a auto regen, Sage & Scholar have access to a Regen AOE that's up all the time on 30s... also both get another one on 60s What does white mage get... one ogcd regen Asylum.. I guess you can kind of count lilly bell...? GCD regens are practically never going to be used on a decent white mage due to how lilies work.

They didn't really lean into the "barrier vs pure" split as much as they could have for sure, obviously both sage/scholar need healing aspects but I feel that they both have too much "healing" aspects and too little barriers outside OGCDs.

I guess GCD healing could become more important but currently healers are so bloated with OGCD healing skills that you never need to gcd heal

Personally, I'm extremely excited for an upcoming Preservation character named Adventurine. "Preservation" = Tanks/Shielders

His kit's still not officially known, but the rumor is that his main focus is on protecting the party with shields that also increase the party's resistance to debuffs and building stacks of his unique passive anytime his shields are attacked by enemies that result in a powerful counter attack. It also seems like he's going to have some supportive elements too, such as increasing the damage enemies take from critical hits.
