i say just remove the workshops from FC's all together and put in in your squadron hall instead then everyone has one, then the housing wales get no advantage. and we can all laugh at them.

having the game do a check (total members more than 7, every character more than 7 days in fc) to enable the workshop functions for up to 24hrs until daily reset, would be quite interesting change to slow down the hoarding sprawl each time new wards get added.
If you are just 4 close friends, just ask friends to put alts in the fc and it's set. No negative impact on yours fc.
Housing is like a Klondike. If you're late to the party, sorry but all good spots are taken and in SE's terms, it works as intended.
I want to be optimistic but by judging by past, they don't see it as important right now for Dawn Trail. Or, they are preparing another overhaul - who knows?
True, there are some wards on new worlds that are waiting to be opened in the future but if the luck won't work in your favor or anyone from small fc of friends, be prepared to deal with having small or not having any. At least you can unsubscribe for any time you want.
To go deeper into this you will often find these FCs with the alts you mention on either the most random location whatsoever that no one else cared for or they have exactly the plot you wanted! Now for the first, if they are on some random location with 7 alts all those alts are probably for lottery, now losing a lottery is a self-scamming process because why not just win one? If they are on a nicer location they indeed also self-scammed because of the extra accounts (in most cases) that got subbed just to get that one house. Some extra sub cash from one person for Square Enix. Many people have FC houses and only 1-10 members. They are often people that want to get rich fast or just want to make sure they can activate FC actions that benefit raiding purposes. However with current housing shortage this proves to be annoying for most.
So please add a timer system that calculates activity within the FC so the workshop becomes locked by default if less then 10 FC members log in daily. This way abusers with 7 alts would still become unable to scam their way around it and they would be forced to recruit members (members that would leave again once they realise its not a real/active FC).
Hopefully this should convince workshop abusers to give up on their fantasy and let the property be handled by actual FC's that want to make an effort for an actual community instead of their own alts...
Now let's take your suggestion, what this will do is discourage players from paying their subscription so I'm afraid your suggestion isn't going to be a good one. As for closing workshops, I fully agree with you there. I vouch for every single house to be a venue.
First thing I told my friends was that first thing that would happen is me getting rude replies from people who likely abuse the system since they'd feel personally attacked xD
I see the truth lies closer in the middle. It's good to see more people understand where the abuse lies but I do understand that my comment may not keep exceptions to the rule into account. To go deeper into this you will often find these FCs with the alts you mention on either the most random location whatsoever that no one else cared for or they have exactly the plot you wanted! So if my suggestion annoyed you in any way you have my apology. Regardless the current system still doesn't solve the issue we are dealing with right now. I hope people at SE put their heads together so they stop being outsmarted by people with lesser intentions.
Or people just disagree with you because your ideas are the absolute worst ever seen on this forum, and that's a big record to have an idea that bad that it beats the others bad ones.
Seriously, there are normal, decent Free Companies of just handful of people.
In mine here is 3 of us active at the moment. We play, craft, pvp, and want to use our house as usual.
And those friends who aren't active in game atm we keep in touch, like friends do.
Maybe there will be more of us again soon, in our FC home of many years.
This might work IF it would target those actually abusing it. I own a fc and there a total of 6 of us. You saying I should lose access to my workshop because 3 of us are active daily?
Look I realize the shortage but that's on the devs shoulders. They been making wrong moves since stormblood changes.
The only true fix is moving to instanced housing and charge a couple extra dollars on peoples subs
If you feel the replies are rude then that's unfortunate. I am a bit curious as to why you would think all who replied would feel attacked and assume they would abuse the system. I own ONE fc and there's 6 of us in it (3 of which are on daily). How am I abusing anything? I really would like an answer to this.
You present an idea that is a double edged razor if implemented. Alot of us who are innocent in all this would end up screwed cause you mad at people who used a alt loophole to snatch up extra fcs and use them to send out subs to make Gil off of.
I understand and agree with the idea IF they can target the right players. The devs have a bad track record of not being able too.
Just keep calm because alot of us are on your side but you frankly need to see both sides of this.
The only honest fix is to make instanced housing. Till then snag yourself an apartment. Only 500k and you don't risk losing it if you lapse going into it for 45 days
Don't play with fire if you are afraid of getting burn.
Also, you pretty much put a bullseye on your forehand with your suggestion and tone.
