I'm not necessarily opposed to the idea, but I don't agree with these two points. If we have separate speed stats, you have the option of taking both in differing amounts which could impact how a job plays. When it comes to game data, I have to do some guessing, but the proposed change isn't likely to reduce the amount of information sent between players. The game should only care about how many categories of information is shared, not how many options are in a given category. Whether there are 2 options for materia or 2000, the game has to send a value specifying which materia is being used. The only way to reduce information here would be to remove materia entirely, which removes the need to specify a value for a materia slot.
