My ears are on the sides of my head and toques are made of flexible material so they don't really need to make ear slots as the hat forms around it. However, on headgear made of more solid material, such as baseball or motorcycle helmets, there is space for your ears so that you are comfortable wearing it. You just don't notice it on the outside because human ears don't stick out like a cat's do.
yes there is padding designed with your ears in mind inside the smooth rounded helmets without ear slots. My ears are on the sides of my head and toques are made of flexible material so they don't really need to make ear slots as the hat forms around it. Your ears are still laid flat against your head, and contrary to your belief, human ears can and do stick out, and cats can lay their ears flat at will, just watch your cat next time they see a bird and go in to butt wiggle pounce mode.
The weight of most cloth hoods alone can lay a set of ears flat...
Not to mention if you make ear holes in a armored helm it just means your ear is getting ripped off the second something hits that helm hard enough to spin it.. for instance the padding in motorcycle and baseball helms, the padding in them is to hold them snug to your head and make it grip you, not to divide your head up and make edges and dividers that can hurt you inside them..
From a design standpoint its possibly the dumbest ideal you could make.. its the same fallacy as say molded chest armor for girls, go ahead and get one of those cavities caved in by a mace and tell me how you feel.
Dude this is a fantasy game with fictional races that have non human traits. If I'm going to play one of said races then I want those traits to be present. Having a piece of clothing completely remove one of those features defeats the purpose of playing the race entirely. That being said if someone does want to have those traits disappear then how about a toggle? That way everyone is happy.yes there is padding designed with your ears in mind inside the smooth rounded helmets without ear slots.

i agree with a toggle, but fantasy or not its still dumb, what fantasy is there for your tail clipping threw capes like its a hologram?Dude this is a fantasy game with fictional races that have non human traits. im responding to someone else that brought this logic to play, so maybe lecture them on it then, but im doubtful you will correct someone thats on your side of the argument. There are so many instances in this game that, if we were to bring real-life logic into this, we would be dismembered, disembowled, smashed to pieces, set on fire, etc. Even with armor. If the Echo is our reason for escaping death, we can use the Echo to avoid getting ears being ripped off. Boom.
also echo? really? the echo helps us predict danger like a spider sense, it doesn't prevent unavoidable death or dismemberment, just ask horsefart. maybe you can use dynamus to make your ridiculous argument a real boy..
you want realism? youre covered in fur, you dont need a hat /facepalm

Gee maybe the cape should also be a toggle and not a requirement for the glamour. Additionally maybe capes on tailed races should be modeled to not clip the tail through. The new adventure gear at the start of 6.1 does this very well. Giving people more options to these sorts of things is the easiest way to make everyone happy. And while my fantasy doesn't include wearing capes or having a tail clip through a cape, someone else's fantasy might and that should not be denied to them.
