Have you considered that your view might be heavily biased since you are willing to pay several subs for the sake of housing and surround yourself with people who do similar? If this game really only held people by the houses they have, it wouldn’t get the praise it gets.

I am speaking strictly from a housing perspective that auto demolition is made for people to keep their subscription up, you take months if not years to get a large or a medium, you dont want to lose it, so even if you stop playing for a while you'll keep your subscription up, it's just logical, what if you take a break for 2 months and then come back and have to fight for another large again for months ? I can tell you most people wont do that. There is a good reason why so many houses are empty or have their owner as inactive, a lot of house owners be it single house or multi house are playing other games and some even quit FFXIV all together and are just keeping their house for when they decide to come back.

The idea that you have to fight years to even get a large house is ridiculous to begin with. But as I said before. If they can turn it off for two years for everyone, it doesn’t make such a difference in square quarterly income as you’d like to believe. They can drop the system and it won’t make them a difference

But until then, I dont think so, so I'd like it if you could keep your own opinions to yourself in regards to why I do things at the very least, thank you. You are free to talk about the fact I have many houses obviously, but you saying why I do it is literally you assuming and I dont find that very fair, thanks.

Everything I've said here alludes to your own statements floating around on these forums, but sure, I'll own it if I misconstrued anything in translation. I'm happy to talk if you'd like, I'm not available today but send a moogle mail to Eloy Impia and we can arrange something.

No one forces ppl to stay subbed. Players who own houses developed this victims complex in their mind.

It's virtual property. It means nothing at the end of the day. Especially when you could lose it by messing up and being banned by their own ToS.

Like people need to stop blaming the devs and maybe go see a psychiatrist about this fascination with the victim complex. Wonder what the psychiatrist would think if they were told about virtual housing and having to pay a sub to keep it.

Betting the laughing they would do with their friends after would be worth seeing.

We got far more important stuff to worry about. Who gives a darn about virtual housing.

No one and I mean no one. Is forced to keep paying that sub if they don't want too. Yeah you lose virtual property but who cares.

Like this is what I don't get. What do these people get out of it who only sub to make sure they haven't lost the plot but not play (these people exist everywhere). You don't want to play then let the virtual property go.

No one has a gun to anyone's head telling them they have to sub. Everyone has the freedom to drop the sub if they don't want to play.

So what you are saying is wrong. Especially when yoshi p says it's ok to take a break lol.

This is on the players themselves. Besides apartment is 500k and you don't lose it
Do I want to lose my plot I put countless hours into and may be years before I see another one?

We all can drop out subs, but are you willing to deal with the ramifications of your actions?

Nah I'd rather not lose my virtual house, if all it asks of me in the price of a fast food meal once a month, to login whenever I want to keep the plot.

What meaningful ramifications are there? It's just virtual pixels in a game.

If I lose my houses because I'm unsubbed, then when I resub I'll start the process over. For me, it's no different from replaying any of the games I enjoy. Much of the fun lies in starting with nothing and building my way up. I redecorate frequently, effectively destroying those "countless hours" previously spent.

I know everyone is different and so have different opinions but to me the experiences are the important part of a game and not what I own in it. If I wasn't going to be using my houses, I'd have no problem giving them up so another player trying to get a house would have a chance.

Completely agreed. Gaming is my main hobby, there is a lot of significance for me within FFXIV, I met my spouse in this game, won my personal large during shirogane extreme and the official FFXIV contest.

Sure others may not have had the same meaningul moments and thus, think of this as just a video game but I'm not going to lose countless hours over $15 bucks.

Sentimentality is individual. So if people don't understand due to the life context they have, I say ignore them!

We don't all have to see eye to eye!

I'm the same. If I'm ever on a break and intend to come back then no one is getting my houses anymore. I gave up a couple of houses back when it was possible to buy a new one right away from the placard, but now that the lottery is in place I can no longer count on getting the kind of house I want when a new ward is released.

I put a lot of effort and time into getting my fc mansion and I feel good about it every time I teleport there. I also feel good every time I collect from my submarines. It's a daily reward for the months of crafting and research and the gil I invested. I didn't do all that for nothing. Delayed gratification can be even better than immediate rewards but that involves actually getting the reward at the end. Without an end goal it's just pointless chores to me.

Some people might disagree and say that houses aren't worth paying monthly for whilst on a break. But then there is no reason anyone should demolish their own houses to give those people a chance, right? They're not going to appreciate the virtual property very much and it's going back in the lottery as soon as they take their next break.
