5v5 is fun to play even alone. That's why l kept paying sub, but l Did make some friends along the way in the arena.
I came from another game with shall we say a less than friendly/helpful playerbase. I initially started during ARR but the game didn't click for me. I tried again during Heavensward. Rolled a Summoner and embarked on my journey playing solo except for duty finder because I had been rather conditioned to keeping to myself by that other game. I was level 35 with gear so bad I couldn't get past my 25 class quest so had no jobstone. A lady asked me in gridania one day why I didn't have a job stone. I was just tired enough to tell her exactly what was happening. She ran off and made me a full set of gear and just gave it to me. Got the jobstone first try.
What she taught me has served me extremely well. This is a different sort of place with some really wonderful people in it.
Myself because I mostly played alone
The healer and DPS players when I was a noob and tanking Tam-tara for the first time. I had explained I was brand new and still learning and that it was my first ever dungeon experience, so I was asking things like if it was necessary to target which mobs need to die in order with 123 and stuff. All the things I learned from watching videos and reading guides before I ever stepped foot into my first instance. They were patient, supportive, and gave me good advice as I asked for it. They taught me how to (then) stance dance properly and how many (then) Flashes were needed on average.
Now I try to do the same for any new players in Mentor roulette as best I can today.
My sister!- she made me like this game,
she introduced me to this game and helped me throughout the game.
We still play this game together to this day..

Sadly, the person who left the biggest impression on me is also the same player that left a bad one. That's how things tend to go when people I allow to get close hang around long enough.
That's pretty doomy gloomy, so here's a picture of a cute crab!

My best friend, who convinced me to give FFXIV a try. Initially by streaming herself playing it whilst I had Covid and was in no fit state to do a great deal beyond lay in bed staring at my smartphone. Watching her play caught my attention and I eventually decided to give the game a try for myself, and in doing so became hooked.
This actually came with an added bonus - it convinced me to call it quits on the MMO I used to play, with it's increased commitment to gamble boxes and ridiculously overpriced (£300) 'bundles'. I'd become sick and tired of that business model and, as a result, the game attached to it.
It's been slightly over two years now and I've never looked back. And I often make a point of reminding the friend in question that it was all her doing!
I came from FFXI and started playing here when the beta testing opened for 1.0 started. Everyone played with on FFXI came here.
myself
been a solo player since 1.0 will always be a solo player, i dont need friends to enjoy video games
