    Don’t blame the players, the game basically incentivizes gathering on a single data center. It’s the smart move, and if not Aether it would have been another. For an online game, where do you want to play? Where everyone else is playing, of course!

    I hate that this has happened, but it’s a game design issue. I personally believe it’s the number one problem in this game right now.

    Rongway’s idea is a good solution I think. Then the DC travel system would be functioning as it was originally intended: to let friends play with each other.

    I tend to agree with EorzeaWanderer in this regard.

    A playerbase can definitely want something and push for it, ultimately the decision lies with SE.
    I really do think they considered a region-wide PF at least, but that DC-Travel was simply the easiest and cheapest thing to do.
    Sometimes no one knows how things will turn out or the consequences - players or SE alike - but SE takes sole responsibility with fixing or bettering the system that they ultimately put out.

    Another reason why I don't think it's greener on Aether is because I may be forced to transfer, give up my house, and my FC because of raiding and the possibility of being cut off from Aether is they do disable DC-Travel because of DawnTrail's influx.
    Maybe it will be fine, maybe not and SE will disable transfers as well. I'd like to hear their game plan.
    The high-end raiding scene clocks Aether PF at around 100-150 groups during primetime. I can only imagine how that will look in DawnTrail with raiders returning.
    To me, being forced to move to an overcrowded server where I can barely see my character in Limsa is not at all green

    Something like Guild Wars 2's Megaserver would be ideal, but I doubt if SE could make something like that work w/ XIV though. At the very least, if they could make it so that Duty Finder works across an entire region, I feel like that'd fix the current problem; people wouldn't feel obligated to DC hop to avoid dead queues.

    I could finally do dungeons on Dynamis, without sitting in "More than 30 minutes" queues...as a tank. x)

    we don't need megaserver, we just need 1 data center per region, when I started playing, my datacenter was like 12 servers, now its pathetic 8 servers.
    by making multiple datacenters u force active players to move from one DC to another, one way or another, coz u can't play MMO without active players (surprise)

    Integrating a system that gives the players increased daily reward payouts/increased currency buff, etc for participating/queue'ing for content on a Home server would be one way to do it, but then no one would want to data-travel at all; plus likely create it's own unique problems.

    I get the sense that anything hampering DC-travel would probably go against the vision the dev team has for this game; like it feels to me what Yoshi-P wants is this neighboring feeling within the community; and that everyone feels like one part of a whole; and that servers are like a different 'town' a player visits.

    But i do agree about the issues regarding Aether being the place a lot of people tend to want to go to; although it wouldn't surprise me at all if a dev views this as a situation where it's: 'A person or people(s) wanting to visit a place like New york City.' - it doesn't really solve the additional problems that creates when you pack people into a location like a sardine can, and it does literally nothing for the places they came from. (i mean except for the case of Treasure map runs, it could bring over rare items for that servers market, etc)

    But again, those same rare items could just be farmed locally as well.

    I'd say it depends on the DC. Crystal is okay, it's not the best when it comes to finding a static for higher end content, but it has everything else that Aether does outside of that. Now if you're on Dynamis.....then yeah, once you used up your Road to 80, dip out. That DC is never going to grow.
