The rounds of a slot tournament take a few minutes. I'm trying to reel (oof) in my hyperbolic statements.

There are some days that I feel bad for not giving the new Shatter a fair chance. However, it's threads like these that only reaffirms that I made the correct decision when I chose to not touch the map anymore upon the remake.

I realize you addressed your comment to the OP, however the map design doesn't really incentivize many players to do so.
I thought Shatter kills went from 10-->5 initially then 5-->8 when we all howled about it?

Something like that, it was pretty silly, it really removed the PvP incentive. Then they increased it and changed how the small ice spawned, which in theory should increase PvP encounters, but with so many PvE centric players and random parties I think Shatter is just poorly designed.
if it was in a PvP game, it would have a better chance, alliance would probably develop strategies to roam the map for PvP, but it's not so easy here.

I strongly disagree.
The map now is heavily incentivized players to engage in PvP
First, there will only be two large ice spawns and forces 3rd GC into PvP.
Second, the game is unofficially end when a GC reaches 1400 because leading GC can kill the ice spawn near their location without real contest.
Third, because of second point where game ends at 1400, this means 800 to 1400 range is heavily PvP incentivized and only middle ice spawn has real contest value.
I personally likes Shattered 2.0 more right now than 2 other modes (not as much as Shattered 1.0 of course)
I can always PvP either chokehold at tunnel against attacking GC or go flank GC that is attacking other GC.
Especially, how people behave is very predictable and makes my lonewolf experience decent

Looking at the last line in your comment, I'm not surprised that you would disagree, however that also contradicts your first statement - while I could be wrong, my impression is that while some players fall into the lonewolf category, a significant percentage don't for various reasons.I strongly disagree.

In addition, for various reasons, a number of them aren't intrinsically motivated to PvP (there goes your first case"3rd GC into PvP") , and/or don't understand how the scoring system works, and/or get split during various phase (small spawns), etc.
It's somewhat ok now, there's pvp. But on bad odds you might still get the ice licking alliance, in which case I just take the penalty. The odds are lower now though.

aye leaving when your team is staying for lowscore third or rather at a big points disadvantage seems to be the best choice
