    New Party Option - Tent

    Here's a very Final Fantasy-ish idea that could enhance the party system greatly.

    The Tent
    The Tent (テント, Tento) is a recurring item from the series. In some games, the Tent completely restores the HP and MP of all allies, and in others, it only recovers a specific amount of HP and MP.
    Here's how I think we can have the Tent in FFXIV:
    • A party option only leaders can use, it can be activated / set up if the party has 6 or more members.
    • It works as a temporary Camp, can be used to restore the HP and MP of the party. (With a cool-down of course, 10 to 30 minutes.)
    • Becomes a temporary home point for Party Members.
    • Once a Tent is activated, no other tents can be set up close to it, within a calculated distance. (This should stop other parties from stealing camps.)

    Since we refer to party gathering spots as "Camps" They should look like actual camps. I think this idea will give the party system more appeal and it can be developed to give us more features, challenges and achievements in the future.

    I'd like this. A lot.

    Though, it does kind of make me wish there was a reoccurring party feature -- i.e. when logging in you automatically rejoin your party, and if you logged off in that party's tent, even if the tent has been moved, you can start off in that tent, as if you've stayed with the party whilst logged off / sleeping.

    Heck, it could even eventually have new uses for leves, on the go!

    yeah but would need a maximum time it can be used like 3 hours or something.
    If not people might put there tent a great leveling spot for one day and nobody else could play around...

    To be honest, it'd probably require a world even more vast than what's promised with 2.0. Either that or a camp could instance the area around you while in the party that made the camp, but I'd rather stay away from that. Generally it just seems like the range on these camps should be pretty big. You shouldn't be packing up every ten minutes or so to move to a new spot, or even every hour. If we got some actual moving groups in our AI, the two factors should mostly keep spots from being pinned down completely.

    Again though, I really want a huge world for this.

    I don't think it needs a vast area or an instance. It can be treated as a Levequest. In a levequest your home point changes temporarily, as well as your BGM and Map.

    I was referring to more of the feel a camp would be meant to give off, or at least commonly does in Final Fantasy titles -- reprieve certainly, but also usually given some manner of isolation and / or being surrounded by something more arduous. Two camps on either side of a range of Dodos or staked out next to a single NM wouldn't contribute much to that feeling. That's not to say that the idea will at all become useless. It just won't be some shining example of 'what it means to be FF' or something equally sappy / nostalgic.

    That said, the above feedback is fairly useless. Really, I just need to better figure out the factors involved and come up with a fix for whatever I perceive as problematic without creating new problems, especially for whatever other side may exist. Please don't take me too seriously until I've finished my due work in that area.

    I didn't have bonuses in mind, just something to help save a long run back to where exp camp is for at least one time after you die. Was mainly thinking how some people forget to set a home point at a leve camp (I've done that sometimes). Then you get those that choose to sit and wait for a raise where they died while the rest of the party returns and fights their way back to where they were.
