Oh, the game is HOT GARBAGE. I enjoy the people. People in the..... eccentric tastes.... community at least make the game bearable.

Sorry, but a single pair of pants in a game to have an ass is pathetic. Whoever though that everyone should have concave asses, and that skin textures should have no spec/bump mapping, or depth, out to be fired cause they've got the aesthetic taste of a snail.

Same with all the other jank.

Not to mention the encounters are boring, the writing is tired and full of weeb tropes, and it looks like it belongs on the PS3. If that.

Oh, and they don't seem to know how to make an appealing website. They've gotten as close to 2001 garbage JP phone text scroll site as they can with almost every website.

Honestly, I'm surprised we got a real launcher and not some kinda arse-backwards pants on head dumb-dumb Play Online 2.

But at least the people are awesome, shame they don't play a better game.

Both honestly. A lot of things in the game hit a certain spot in my brain. I love doing roulettes, I love doing island sanctuary, I love crafting. As for the social aspect yea, I generally meet nothing but chill people. I love talking in my FC and chilling with people.

I also like a lot of the writing, the characters are a lot of fun. Of course I have complaints but in really it's pretty much better than most other MMOs in term of writing.

Definitely not the people. Y'all have untreated mental illnesses. I find the game fun. I love the mechanics and failing, etc. The social aspect of it is a nightmare. I once joined an FC where the FC leader did sexual roleplay as a child. Let that one sink in. I've watched adults bully people into quitting the game. I know this game has this stellar reputation for having a nice community, but I must be super unlucky or a magnet to it because that was never my experience with it. Hell, I'm on the server I am now because of stalking. Because some space cadet couldn't just let me leave her dying FC in peace.

Recently a friend of mine stopped playing XIV due to their friend group dissolving, from what I know, their friends had been playing from various points in the MMO, but the majority started back in ARR. They got pulled in around Shadowbringers Release and since then had been having a blast, they are now from what I can tell done with the game now that they have no friend group to play it with.

So how many of you are here simply because your friends are here and got you to play vs playing because you actaully like the game and wanna see it grow and where it goes.
Actually I love the game, though to be fair I've only played for about a year and a half now, but I've got a good group of friends that still play this game and while we love this game we do take breaks for other games (example would be helldivers two coming out Thursday we all have ordered and pre-downloaded so as soon as we get off work we can play, valheim when Ashlands comes out we plan on plsying that) but we still come back to final fantasy cuz there's a lot we can explore figure out and just do. We rotate treasure maps every week, we're using the moogle event once we got what we want are just stocking up on those maps We've got a static group starting the 16th of this month for our first dip into Savage raiding and we run bozja mostly then plan on focusing on eureka to do that content as well. Because we started late there's so much for us to do as a fc and a friend group that we're not bored and will probably be well entertained into and through Dawntrail

Both, mutually - For me they go hand-in-hand.

For me, if a game is that bad then I won't enjoy the experience regardless of who I am playing it with.

Clearly, you've never watched The Room with friends.

Even the worst experience can be made stellar with the right pepple.

You're not alone in how you feel about the community. These things are widespread issues that a lot of people experience.

This game has an insane amount of propaganda and I don't think I'll ever understand it. We've all seen the memes of the critically acclaimed MMORPG but it really goes beyond that. I thought for a while it was just MSQ players who don't actually play content outside of the story and therefore have far smaller chances of having bad encounters or just straight up non-existent if they play with trusts. Not to mention I've seen people handing out minions you literally get from the MSQ itself and new players tend to be like, "Wow this community is so great."

But there's a bit of a darker side to it as well. Whenever serious, lengthy discussions on 3rd party plugins/programs occur you tend to see the discussion swarmed by tons of formerly inactive accounts. Doesn't matter what platform the discussion happens on, whether it's here, reddit, twitter, discord.

It's hard to tell what's real and what isn't, but I feel like there's a lot of obsessed people out there who really have nothing better to do with their time.

It's the game for me. If I wasn't still enjoying myself, I would leave. No point in staying and being miserable in a game if I'm not having fun. The social aspect is icing on the cake. I enjoy meeting new people in roulettes and having some fun with them for a short time. I've found new friends that way when we clicked while doing content. I have other friends I've had for years that I do things with. And I enjoy raiding with my static and some other endgame friends. But none of that would mean much if I didn't enjoy doing the content itself. I also don't think someone staying just for the people they do things with is bad either. They're having fun and that fun doesn't need to be connected to the thing they're engaging in but the people they're doing it with. That was raiding back in EQ in the 90s for me. I don't know how many of us actually enjoyed the content itself. We enjoyed conquering the challenge together and getting the shinies.

I think the main idea is just that someone is enjoying their time in the game. And if that's not true, then maybe take a step back and try something else for a bit. It could be that some distance away might make the annoying things less annoying and someone can come to enjoy things again. But there's no reason to suffer if the fun isn't there, whether it's the game or the people.

For me, Nr1 reason XIV became demotivating to play? is the PvE combat...
    • Started XIV cause big fan of Square games
    • Became intrigued with the story
    • Fell in love with Samurai
    • Disliked the EW Samurai & Combat changes
    • Stuck around due to Housing, Gpose & Friends
Simplifications towards my favorite Job and Combat made everything dull to do. For excitement I watch Netflix while simultaneously doing Savage. Not saying it isn't hard enough? I didn't fell in love with Mechanics in XIV I fell in love with my Job, Samurai that has been made so extremely dull to play in EW... that it kicks the fun out of every PvE activity I do.

That's the unfortunate terms I came to accept. Square never returns any Job depth to XIV after they made changes to a Job or culled something from them, and if they do? that will be the day. Until that day? I just like helping Partyfinder a bit, do Housing, Gpose and hangout, mhm.

Enjoying XIV? Yes for plenty of things
Loving XIV? Definitely not the combat no more

I doubt I would have played this game for 10+years now if it weren't for the people. Has there been drama? Sure. Lots of laughs? Absolutely too. But I enjoyed every day cause I had likeminded players to play or just hang out together. If it weren't for them, I'd have quit long time ago.

The game itself certainly had a lot of attraction as it oozed charm at every corner and you could feel the passion behind the developer team. Nowadays? Not so much and I doubt it's a "vocal minority" as people here make it out to be. I'm quite worried that 7.0 might be the last chance for a lot of friends which ultimately make me sub for 1month to get things done solo on my own and forget about it for 2 more years in the future...

Pretty much my #1 complaint right now if I had to pick one issue I'd rework from the ground, it would be PvE gameplay
