CC's skewed matchmaking and why I can't play the mode even if I wanted to.

For those who don't know, the casual matchmaking of CC has a forced 50/50 win ratio, you can check this by opening up your achievements (the wolves den), and checking how many games you've participated in through your 'wolfing it down' achievement and comparing it to your 'leader of the pack' achievement.

When I finished my 'wolfing it down' achievement (participate in 5000 games) I remember having around 2600 wins in my 'leader of the pack' achievement, I've asked around with friends and they all seem to have similar results.

I play on light, a europe server, the first 1 (2) weeks of the season ranked que has been popping, after that it completely died at crystal rank, it used to pop for an hour or 3 and now it doesn't do that even anymore, it's just literally non-existent right now.

I enjoy the thrill of a challenge, testing my skill against equally other good players, I've made alts on NA and JP just to play a bit of ranked there as well, but due to the ping difference it's not really an enjoyable experience, so it leaves me with only one option, playing casual CC.

Because of the forced 50/50 win rate in casual, and the nature of how it tries to pair you with anyone for a fast que, it's more often then not a terrible experience for the better players, a 3100 hidden mmr player can get paired with a one 1100 mmr player, three 2000mmr players and be up against five 2500 hidden mmr players, there is almost no way for the 3100 mmr player to win the match because of the huge skill gap.

It isn't even the new players their fault cause they are just trying to que up and have a bit of fun or get some quick rewards from the wolves den, but it's honestly gut wrenching to see you keep losing games cause you get paired with that 1 player that doesn't have recuperate on their hot bar.

Regardless of how some jobs are unbalanced and how much tweaking they need, every day I find myself craving pvp less and less because of this issue, I just lose motivation after like a couple games cause it doesn't seem to matter what I do in the end it'll be fruitless. I love Crystaline conflict, otherwise I wouldn't have over 10k games in it, I just wish ranked was more active or the devs would look into how to balance things more for casual matchmaking, but the lack of attention pvp has gotten over the few months doesn't make me very hopeful.

    Thank you for reading.

I don't really care at all if I win or lose in casual, but I do get frustrated if it gets just one sided, no kills, game done under 2min.

I got used to it because l has to deal with it in call of duty before l started playing this game. this is the same as call of duty's "skill based match making" Or more appropriately " engagement optimized match making". Bad players will quit out of frustration if they kept getting stomped. So something has to be in place to make sure they can win so they feel good and keep playing the game. se is a business. This is a strategy for retention rate. I played enough that l can tell if the sbmm wants me to lose. Since the it is casual and l get No less tomestone when l lose, l just pull the trick l used in call of duty to deal with these kind of lobbies.

Achievement Discord is a collecting community that welcomes anyone who wants to achieve in-game, including hardcore collectors, casual collectors, and anyone trying to collect something specific, such as mounts or minions. This is a place for collectors, to come together on All Data Centers. It's a way to share goals and work together as not every achievement is solo, so getting like-minded people in the Data Centers together can help do that. https://discord.gg/ffxiv-achievement

I haven't even touched this Season, maybe I'll do it like week or two before Dawntrail. EU Ranked keeps speedrunning dying every season and the Casual is such a mess that either you stomp the other team or get stomped because there's not enough people around same skill level.

In my experience, once you get a bunch of wins, it starts putting you on teams with people who have a bunch of losses, or just generally moreso the more you win (and vice versa). So if you want to win, just lose (or something haha). A lot of factors in the game are built around RNG blended with making everyone suffer equally, neither of which is fair (including wondrous tails being rigged so that no one will ever get, say 4 gold seals per year, but *everyone* CAN get ONE/be issued the chance to choose the gold note if they do the 3-line setup enough times- and from there you must get through enough fails and/or wait long enough before you secretly unlock your next 3-line eligibility).

I've been harping on this for so long. They need to fix casual matchmaking parameters, I don't mind a slightly longer wait tbh. I just hate some of these games where it's almost impossible to carry, and if I don't play a carry, then it definitely becomes impossible. If I want to tank? Loss. If I want to play support? Loss. When you lose like 12 games in a row because your teammates don't know what guard, sprint, recuperate, lb and purify are; it really gets frustrating and creates toxic behavior.

Oh this explains a lot if its true. Casuals surely are stomping or being stomped. Not very interesting anymore to queue up for it. I still do it ofc since addiction is real and the mode itself is quite enjoyable

It is the same for all whenever it get to it, and you need to be very persistent in it as well, I think it is fair enough as it is now and that people is crying too much about it.

They will cry even more when it is premades doing it, and then you WILL get stomped.

This is a CC thread, there is no "premade." Yes, you can "sync" queues to play with your friends but if you're at the same skill level, you'll probably be on opposite teams. And clearly the fact that you think it's currently fair, is because you're clueless to what your teammates are doing to carry you thru the game. In a game mode where every teammate matters, a poor player is a HUGE anchor. A person that doesn't know how to guard/recuperate/etc. to stay alive = is that much more burst damage/crowd control hitting your teammates.
