Krile and Pictomancer

Not seen anybody talking about this, so i guess its just not a big issue, but i personally think she doesnt suit being a pictomancer. it feels kind of forced? like, that they really needed her in the msq as a fighter and just forced her to be a picto.. something about her personality.. its just not really the "artsy" kinda type, it lacks the lighhearted bubblyness that youde think would be needed to take up pictomancy.

somebody i do think could have and should have been a pictomancer tho, is tatatu. her character personality is PERFECT and tbh, she needs to get out the inn room and do something cool too.

so what about krile? well why not a sch rework? kriles personality, vibe and appearance are all very remniscent of a scholar to me. IDk does anyone else feel this was wierd or forced?

I think she was the best choice of the characters available. Up to this point she had been on a healer role (you see this from her in the first pull of Tower of Zot) This meant they were up too many healers with Alphinaud, Uriangier, and G'raha Tia (who is an all rounder) all able to slot into that spot as needed.

Alphinaud would honestly have been the best choice here because we already know he has artistic skill... but he JUST changed to sage, so I don't think they wanted to change him again.

Uriangier would be an even worse fit for this role than Krile.

Now that said if they wanted her to be a DPS job, you maybe could argue that she would be better suited to a job like summoner, but they likely wanted to showcase the pictomancer job

It felt very forced to me as well. Like not even just the Pictomancer part specifically but her entire presence to going to the New World felt force. For an expansion meant to be dedicated to her, they haven't done a good job so far of making her feel "just there" in 6.55

Didn't seem any more forced than any other character's job changes over previous expansions to me. Like Thancred going from a stealth recon expert to a tank because....we needed a tank for Trusts and that's about it.

That works for in character reasons. Tanks take the heat off of other people, and he had someone to protect.

i get that it dont fit her, but up to this point she has had no personality besides a lore dump, hopefully this lets her show some emotion and character enough to be considered an actual character and not just a plot contrivance

Idk, but a mage thats combat capable and 'whimsical' is something that fits Krile well in my opinion. Sure, she's not the most artistic personality-wise, but we do know from snippets here and there that she IS a good artist and was one to teach Alphinaud some in the past.

The job itself is forced. Let alone Krile being shoehorned into it. However, we all know that only a Lalafell would take on this job and Krile is the only who fits the bill. It can't be Tataru as she is all about commerce and handles financial affairs for the Scions. Iirc, I believe she had tried her hand at combat and failed miserably. Prompting her to become an artisan, which lead her into the business trade. In any case, she's out of the running.

Tataru tried her hand at being an Arcanist at one point which didn't pan out well. Though at this point I wouldn't mind a small diversion where she tries her hand at it again just to summon an uncontrollable ultimate version of Proto Carbuncle that we either end up having to stop, or watch as it goes on a rampage through Limsa before finally running out of Aether...

I don't see why they couldn't have made Yugiri the Pictomancer. I know have watched animes where ninjas used drawings for attacks.
