    Yoshi, please bring back magic def

    Elemental resist would be fine except you have to build a set for each element and with bosses like chimera who use multiple elements makes prioritizing resist more complicated. Either give us a elemental resist materia that is for every element or simply bring back magic def. I normally dont care for those who complain needlessly about game aspects that arent realy broken just not easy to acomidate. But, when your healer takes as much damage from magic attacks as your tank, somthing is wrong with that.

    Also, if you do decide to bring back some sort or magic def stat, please slot them in gear that is currently without good options

    sugestions: magic def for the feet and hands. I do know that you gave us block rate for the hands but as far as I am concerned between abilties alone I am more then willing to use that slot for somthing as usefull as magic def.

    A half compromise would be allowing Veils to go on multiple slots.

    The chance to partial or completely resist via Magic Evasion. But a failed resist results in Vitality and Elemental Resist to come into play to reduce the damage.

    Magic Defense would be a nice stat to have.

    I think there should be a magic defence stat. Yes, there is a magical evasion stat, but if you think about it, physical damage have both defence and evasion, why shouldn't magical damage have both magical defence and magical evasion?

    well Dlvl from boss still would make all the magic def and evasion in the world useless.

    not true, people say the same thing about physical def, but I have proven time and time again high def works great in boss fights soo long as you have its counterpart (vit) to half the value of that of your def. I would imagine bringing back magic def would prolly run on the same system as physical def, it would likely have a counter stat that "unlocks" its full potential, considering that PLDs already need mind for heals , that would be a great enhancment stat for magic def, the same way vit is for def. Hell , if they just gave us a 1:1 elemental resist for every mind point we have , I would settle for that, better then having no real answer to magic damage except more hp :/

    Hate to bring this thread back, but considering the consequences of its implications , I think some response from a developer on the subject is apropriate. Magic defense coming back to the game would be a game changer as far as how tanks are built and how fights are handled.

    If I may be soo bold as to add some sugestions , I would realy like a response for a developer as far as the likelyhood of the reaplication of magic defense.

    1: mind would be an excelent canidate for a raw stat that influinced magic def, as it is used by whms and pld tanks , using mind as a magic def modifier would only make sense in my opinion

    2: Using an existing defensive stat as a indicator of how much magic defense gear/materia/abilities, ect ect, would get also would make sense. For example, if a peice of gear has 150 def then it would come with 75 magic defense, or possably doing a 1:1 using vit as the indicator, example, a peice of gear that normaly has no vit but hq version has 10 vit would imply that the hq version would also have 10 magic defense. Somthing like this would also alow for other jobs to have apropriate amount of magic defense.

    Please if you have any thoughts or ideas on the subject, please submit them. My goal is for the developers to take this subject seriously , again, the implication of magic defense on gear, abilities, ect, ect, would be a game changer of sorts.

    I actually personally like what they did with magical defense as-is. Take into account I never saw how M.Def worked before but they got a neat concept.
    Every magical damage is elemental (at least from te likes of it). And instead of a single M.Def value you have various Elemental Defense (E.Def) values.

    What they really, really need to do is implement more gear with E.Def! Hell, perhaps there could even be pieces of gear that add a value to all the E.Defs, and other specialized gear with high E.Def values.

    yeah we are kinda saying the same thing , adding value to magical based attacks ( elemental attacks) defenses. I just think bringing back magic def would simplify the situation , altho in 11 , they did have both elemental def and magic def. LOL Just wish a dev would respond and give us some Idea of weather or not this aspect will be fixed or not.
