That's usually the point of linkshell/guilds...doing things with your same group of people lol. The only reason it's bad in XIV is because no one really takes this game seriously in terms of general users.

I hope Golnan wans't chunking me into the 80% are bad players or whatever... lol I've done my share of speed runs on AV.

Pick up group always with least resistance path, nobody is gonna change that, its the same with all MMO, if everyone hated class stacking so much then gather the same minded ppl, if you cant find them.. Go figure.. Maybe its not 'everyonne' after all.

The word elitist gets thrown around so much, most people who get called elitist aren't even elitists. I got called elitist on more that one occasion for various reasons, none of which are from being an elitist.
So, what I'm trying to say is just because someone is a good player doesn't make them elitist, there can be nice, non elitist players who are good at the game so it doesn't have to be: A.) Play with bad casuals and lose or B.) Play with elitist assholes and win.
Besides there are plenty of really bad elitists in this game.

I've seen my fair share of elitists on Sargatanas lol.... would blame the loss of Ifrit on DRG's when she wasn't alive half the time and didn't buff anyone with songs. I've taught new people Moogle and Ifrit and still do that today. No one is going to learn the hard content if good people don't show them how to do it right. The word elitist gets thrown around so much, most people who get called elitist aren't even elitists. I've done a fair few pickups, particularly AV runs and they're not so bad. As long as a few people know what they're doing, particularly the tank, then you should at least get a win out of it. Speed runs however are doubtful without a good bit of practice.
From what I've seen on Ragnarok, linkshells will often supplement their runs with a couple of pickups if they don't have 8 available. As long as they don't screw up massively all the time they'll get invited again. I used this to gain a lot of experience and am now leading my own runs.
All i gotta say is "that too weak", alot ppl keep saying need blm and war for speed run or to be done. You can do speed run av/cc with random job that like whm pld blm drg mnk etc. All it take is skill player that proby didnt get pler to 50.
SE is pretty stubborn about this or maybe they just ignore the non jp forum. There had been some comments in this forum before stating that speed run pretty much screw up the game when ppl focusing on 25 min speed run.
Now with the relic quest, SE once again introduce 17 min speed run.
So ya, it's heading that direction.
The game is supposed to have fun, but now it's much more stressful than real life work because u need to keep focus, not doing absolutely anything wrong. Or u elite leader will shout at u, convincing u that u r so suck and please go die because u just wasted ur LS mates time for a failed speed run.
I don't like speed run if it's a requirement.
I like speed run if it's not a requirement, i.e.: Yaay, we did it in 15 minutes! (Just so we know how well we are doing).
But it should not affect outcome.
This makes it so we are mindless drones having to repeat the exact same clicks in a pre-determined fashion to get to the end in time.
I've reached a point where 'all' I need is only obtainable via speed run. No real incentive to go with friends or pick-up-groups or new people now, other than to teach them or have some general fun. Knowing full well I will get nothing from the chests because it will not be under a certain time limit.

It still surprises me that some people defend this system.. apparently it separates the "good from the bad".
All in all, to me it separates the people that play >2345892348 a week from the people that only play <15 hours a week. Speed runs aren't even hard, they are THE most boring thing in the game.
The fight for United We Stand. THAT was fun. There was no speed run in it, you just need to complete it.
