RP shout ads are obstructive to chat and gameplay

What do you mean recently? Those symbols have been on the ads since at least the covid days. It's not a preemptive attempt at anything. It's done so that readers' gaze goes directly to that term.

Will they find a way to bypass the filtering? Sure, most likely. But the symbols isn't anything new for them.

I don't know if your server is somehow different, but I assure you, those symbols have been on the ads on Chaos since I first discovered the venue scene myself, in late 2021.

I remember it specifically, because I was curious to find out how those symbols can be input into the game and found myself googling them.

Those symbols have always been part of the advertisement. As I said, it's a deliberate strategy to get your gaze to pop right to their ad, as well as probably give their ad some extra flair. It's a simple marketing strategy, nothing more.

So, if you were to accuse a shout runner of trying to bypass filtering by using those symbols and they replied with this is how it's always been, they'd be telling the truth.

Most advertisements contain a Discord link. Just block "discord.gg/" and you will get 95% of all advertisements blocked.

Few days ago I saw a venue with like 5 ads in PF. I think this should be considered spam, I don't mind the venue ads but why do you need to copy paste the same thing.
I don't think it warrants a block/mute since I honestly think that's a waste of blocklist space over something so...trivial. Give them a roleplay tab and allow people to actually filter/opt out of it. Then you get people who want to advertise a venue/RP event with people seeking that kind of content or looking for it..

Worst part is that when you don't punish repeat postings like that, it tells the other places they can do it too. What should be maybe 6-7 listings suddenly becomes 20-30 all pointing to the same places.

I feel like the nuclear option is to report such behavior because it falls under spam...
I'd rather people have their own RP tab and actually not spam that either. You certainly don't need 4-5 entries to advertise your venue since the PF is literally shared with the entire DC. I'd only understand if the PF was limited to one server.

But yeah I'd rather not report them, just let SE give us options and for them not to spam that option either.
