RP shout ads are obstructive to chat and gameplay

If Yoshi came out and said they're making the 4 chat tabs kinda smaller (less wide) and sticking a 5th on there and it's only to be used for ANY KIND of Venue ad... and to stay out of normal shouts.... and if you don't you'll be suspended like they did telling these people to stick to "other" in PF..... IT is kinda the same thing and as annoying (and i use that term loosely) as some people are I'm pretty sure if he laid down the law like that people would follow the rules. Shout could actually be used for what it's for then. A random FC ad here and there that doesnt' get buried in 5 venue ads that happen to go off at the same time... people could talk about the game, ask for help, announce a hunt etc

Exactly what I've said several times in here. They don't even need a 5th tab. Just a new channel to type in that we can filter out while they go nuts with their ads. Then we don't have to see it and they can do what makes them sparkle. Or whatever. It's really simple solution to a problem that has become super annoying for most people. And apparently caused a feud between gamers and gil extorting people who feel threatened by this thread.

Exactly, He literally did it for PF tabs and no one questioned it, but it's unfair now. Just like when it was unfair when people were posting venue ads as fights in the raid section. But ofc no one remembers that nonsense.

The outcome of both situations is you being annoyed but the issue/solution are not the same as I pointed out.

I'm not against changes in this topic but I'm of the opinion that a new chat will solve nothing and be nothing but a bandaid.
Would much prefer options for us to edit our own personal chat. Like filters or collapsing large messages as was previously mentioned in here.

How would you be able to code that in though? Or enforce it. Unless you link the pf to the plot itself but even then that still has the issue of someone else claiming that ad spot in pf before you do.

Had my idea not been buried in these forums. I had it laid out.

In essence a application form would need to be filled out by the venue owner. They would need to put down any and all variants of their venue name. Then designate 2 players who would be advertising for them. It would also be up to the owner to update that if the players happens to change.

This has a blowback of a fake venue owner just to troll but if the team took time to figure out the owners. Wouldn't be too hard to see if it was fake or not. Alternately they can be on watch for anyone claiming to be owner and getting it quickly fact checked to fix the error.

After application gone in then only designated players could only advertise for that venue or any venues they listed on.

I don't think a new chat would be a Band-Aid if it's introduced properly. It doesn't require yoshi going live to address it , just a note about its proper usage and what will be enforced on the lodestone page regarding its announcement should suffice. I think it will work perfectly based on how well things have gone in the past (moving venue ads out of all the combat categories, into other is a perfect example). Though I see with collapsing long messages that chat will still be getting a bit spammy. And honestly with word filters to block messages ... I can only see that being exploited by obnoxious spammers working around it, or people accidentally filtering out the wrong things. Other games have this other channel and they work just fine, it can work fine here too. Especially if they had the improvements to fellowship finder that I mentioned, with a higher character limit and the ability to link it in chat like they can with party finder. That way, I'd never have to see one of these annoying ads again unless I went looking for it. We don't want to enable or encourage shout ads with any new features since they're proven to be useless (last night my FC's venue was max capacity again without using a shout ad) as party finder is all one needs to advertise in.

Every single Venue/RP drama on NA servers is literally everyone ignoring any all forms of RP Etqiquette.
- You do not approach anyone who doesn't have the RP tag, unless you know them and/or they simply forgot to put on the RP tag. You do not try to push rp onto any non-RPers or anyone likely unwilling.
- You do not just push something onto another RPer and assume whatever you do automatically works. Especially not in ERP with a stranger. You can write taking your drink and throwing its contents at someone's face, but you cannot write you throw it into someone's face, not without someone's consent. Forcing ERP on someone is not just SA IC, it is also god-moding.
- In-Character (IC) does not equal Out-Of-Character (OOC). Someone can run a brothel if they like or participate in shady/criminal RP, as long as the other players involved consent to it and agree to participate. If you are not an RPer, or have nothing to do with that kind of thing, it's non of your business. If you assume something of a person because of their character, that's a you problem. But please don't do something if you can't handle potential IC consequences. Do not assume things about the player because of what the character does, or the race they play. This makes you a red flag.
- Related to above, you do not just walk on someone or ruin someone's immersion because you want to throw a hissy fit. Try to resolve the issue in-character, and communicate with /tell and say "Hey, I'm not OK with this", or "this is meta-gaming/god-moding (insert reason here)". You always have the right to say no. If the other person insists, it becomes harassment or obstructing gameplay, and is therefore reportable. And so is ripping on someone for the character they have or venue they run. Do small-talk if you need to, or make an excuse, but don't just start insulting someone for their character, which brings me to my next point:
- You do not meta-game, which is using OOC information your character could not possibly know. If your chuaracter has not met that other character, who runs a brothel, they are just another person to Eorzea, uunless they specifically mention they do, or try to recruit you, assuming you too are in-character. Just because you know the player runs a brothel, does not mean your character knows, even if you don't like the fact that they do.

Also, in my personal opiniona:
- IMO no one owes you Gil, and RP is a community effort, not for your personal gain.
- Being a minor is not an excuse to report someone if you willingly and deliberately walk into an adfult-themed venue. That could be seen as obstructing game-play, and in itself is a red flag.


TL;DR:
Skill issue.
