RP shout ads are obstructive to chat and gameplay

Advertising rp versions of things that are illegal irl shouldn't be happening. If it was a trend to advertise rp drug dens that wouldn't go over well, might lead to little kids getting curious about drug use and then they go down a rabbit hole etc. That's a pretty bad influence for young and impressionable minds. Just like courtesan advertising, some little girl could think that it's ok to ... Y'know. That can't fly here. Adults need to be more responsible and considerate about their activities in public places.

Literally irrelevant. All of it. Nobody said games make people do anything. GTA has nothing to do with how people violate the user agreement in FFXIV and how those people could have a negative influence on certain people.

There is a lot I could say as someone who formerly worked in these sorts of venues as a bartender and bouncer, but it's hard to formulate my thoughts on this exact situation in a concise manner, especially given how late it is.

I do think that the shouts can be a bit much, and openly advertising NSFW services in a game rated T for teens probably shouldn't be allowed, though I know online interactions are not rated by the ESRB, as will no doubt be pointed out, if not already.

More people in the game, especially those in that scene, should be aware that this game is targeted toward teenagers and that there are minors in the game. It isn't just an issue with shout chat but with party finders and fellowships too.

Some might argue that the game references that sort of thing, and to give them credit, it does. Satasha, the first dungeon in the game, has a room called "The Hole," where many women are being held captive, and it is very clear what is going on. There also exists the Beehive in Eulmore and the various other interactions NPCs have with one another that could be pointed toward.

In the end, the only change that will come from this is what you enact yourself.

As someone who AFKs in towns a lot, I don't mind it and I am used to it.
If I want peace and quiet, I'd hang in my house or somewhere quiet like Sharlayan.

It actually does interfere with gameplay, as someone who's played this game since beta I can confirm this. You know how many people used to use shout chat for game related stuff 6 years ago compared to now? There used to be tons of content related shouts, from fate chains to hunt trains and savage carries at random , every day there was something. Now, the few things that do get shouted are swiftly buried under a pile of venue ads. It's taken over shout chat and completely destroyed the spontaneous random activities that many people joined in on, for what? So people can gather and violate tos with their mods and listen to a twitch dj stream stuff while they loop emotes? Myself and thousand upon thousands of players are forced to miss out on game related content because only mod dancing and nudes matter? We are all paying customers here. No side is more entitled than the other. Hence the suggestion to have a seperate place for community event advertising so people can use shout chat again without it being a constant wall of spam

Beta was over 10 years ago at this point. What you're experiencing is time changing, culture changes lol. FATE trains, hunt trains, ect still exist. It's just all in PF now because it's easier to post there than to shout in city chats. Just a thought.

It's called appealing to wider audience, they don't stop it because it's ultimately not harmful to the games performance or profitability. It's not like people would stop using faloop discord or equivalent services and go back to le good ol times of manually visiting every hub and shouting things even if the ad spam were to disappear overnight, so why bother trying?

SE moderates the game plenty tho, it doesn't break the ToS therefore it's allowed. I find it fine lmao - but I'm also able to ignore it. Going "ITS NOT LIKE THE OLD DAYS" doesn't help either, because again, it's been a good 10 years from then to now. Have you considered, like, the average player has changed lmao. For example most people don't even touch savage content. A lot of people haven't even touched HoH/Eureka/PoTD. Most people do very, very casual content. There's no cap, you're just coping.

If it wasn't causing disruption and annoying players, this thread wouldn't exist. It is a problem and has been a problem for a long time. Just because it doesn't bother you doesn't mean that there isn't a large number of people who do find it bothersome , to say the least. Nobody is stopping rp people from rping, nobody is stopping them from enjoying what they like. Giving them a better way to advertise without causing disruption while keeping shout chat free of spam is Infact beneficial to them, and everyone else
