    GM Contact

As someone who has occasionally had conversations with moderation team personnel - whom I have found to be absolutely pleasant and sociable to communicate with each time I've had the experience - there is one problem that has occurred to me on a few occasions.

I speak, of course, of Duty. These activities disconnect you from the /tell feature. While in Duties, you can neither receive nor send a /tell to another player. (Exception: I seem to recall being able to receive/send tells in Field Operation zones to other players there, but it's been a while since I've been to those locations.)

Problematically, members of the moderation team seem to not be able to get the standard notification you are in a Duty when they reach out to you. In a similar manner, the game's code makes no exception that would let you REPLY to a member of the moderation team. This means members of the moderation team are missing out on the possibility to obtain a fuller or more direct feedback from the player they are attempting to reach out to talk to.

I would like to propose the former as a viable resolution. A conversation with a member of the moderation team would logically take potentially several minutes, if not more. It would be unfair to other players on the team to ask them to set and wait while you talk to one. Similarly, removal of the player from the Duty to facilitate such a conversation would both adversely impact the other players AND discourage players from reaching out to start with.

It seems to me it would be exceedingly helpful, to the members of the moderation team, to be able to be notified if the player they are reaching out to is presently unable to respond.

How would you know that then? Are you a GM? And if so, don't you have a more direct line of communication than this?

They can also reply via the support desk if they need more information. Usually they only need more information if enough wasn't supplied. If you use the forms in the FAQ section, it specificies what information they actually need.

I am not a member of the moderation team. I would assume if I were a member of the moderation team, I wouldn't need to report things to the moderation team. It'd be kind of hard for me to report something to myself, wouldn't it?

I have been messaged by members of the moderation team while in dungeons. In these occasions, they've sent multiple messages, which indicate an unawareness I was presently in a Dungeon at that instant. One member of the moderation team that I spoke to, recently, indicated he found my observation useful and asked me to mention it here on the forum. I can't really answer your questions about more direct lines of communication, since, as an ordinary player and not a member of the moderation team myself, I have no clue what lines of communication they have or don't have. I'm simply making a post on the forum because a member of the moderation team thought something I said was a decent enough idea to toss it on the forum.

    ah yes.. the forums...

I hate to spoil the suggestion of the in game moderators, but this is where they send "good suggestions" to die

as far as I am aware, even moderators, OF THESE FORUMS, rarely visit here. so it is unlikely, extremely so, that it will go beyond here.

all it points out in stark detail, is that there is a massive disconnect between what the in game GMs believe, and the reality of the official forums

Mostly it tends to be the GMs that moderate it anyway.

It's not about what they believe. It's just their job to tell people to make their suggestions on the forums.

These forums used to be frequented many years ago. Unfortunately time is cruel and as the games popularity rose this place became a bit too busy and chaotic.

Occasionally it happens. Most of the time you usually only get to see the GM face to face when you have already been deemed guilty and the GM is delivering the news though. Only to say that they can't tell you what you did wrong just don't do it again. But sometimes when you report, the GM will DM you directly for more information. It's happened to me a couple of times.

That's cause our community reps are always too busy streaming for Duty Commence doing casual things with the casual parts of the community and advertising SE products on those interaction streams to handle problems here. /s The feedback from their stream chat, Twitter, and the main sub reddit (cause they admitted they use that), is where a chunk of their feedback pulling comes from. The forums is usually ignored because it's the one place not like the others where the feedback is drastically out of touch with everything else.

They typically talk to you in person if you are the person being reported, or if when reporting someone, you didn't provide enough detail.

Personally, I have always provided enough detail, so they have never needed more information from me and therefore they have always responded via the support desk.
