Bird race?

I think it's very cruel that Yoshi-P announced "no new races" and then dropped Meteion on us. Him saying it's up to us in the new liveletter though gave me hope. I know a lot of people feel like we don't need new races, or we should get Viera and Hrothgar fixed before adding new ones, and I understand that sentiment and agree with the viera/hroth stance. However, I still would love to see a race with little bird wings on the sides of their heads and cute bird tails.
Fair warning I don't know how modeling works, so correct me if I'm wrong, but the wings could have a similar placement to Au Ra horns so that the bird race won't have to suffer from the hat curse viera and hroth do on arrival.
There could be different wing types, like the ones Meteion has, or wings shaped like Melia's from Xenoblade. The wings/tail could be their own color separate from your hair color, or tied to it, but I'd personally prefer the option to have the wings/tail be a different color from your hair (and if you want them to be the same color you can just select the same color). I love my Au Ra, but I'd gladly fanta into a bird person... we don't even have to give them those talon feet that Meteion has, since I know that'd be a headache to work around and it's honestly a whatever feature to me.
Also, even though Meteion is technically a species Hermes created, there's nothing stopping it from being possible that bird people can exist as shards. Humans got turned into miqos and hroths and roes, why not the birds too? And in enw there's already a bit of dialogue for the furry races where they call you an adorable creation, so it's not like it's earth shattering for you to be a bird person when you go through the story.

Next race will be the Meteions

The only cosmetic option is Meteion. There's many Meteions running around. You can't wear any different gear, but you can dye yourself. It applies the dye to the whole body.
There's rumors of a Golden Meteion, but nobody has seen her yet. All Meteions have flight unlocked in all zones right away. All Meteions get access to the new exclusive housing district in Elpis.

If anything, Meteion's existence should rule out the addition of a similar playable race. She's supposed to be something unique.

Lol, true. I remember what you said a few months ago:

Race variety is definitely one area where WoW absolutely blows this game out of the water.

WoW Races:
- Werewolves
- Minotaurs
- Zombies
- Dragons
- Pandas
- Foxes
- Goblins
- Horrifying cybernetic abominations
- And the usual assortment of elves, dwarves, etc.

FF14 Races:
- Humans
- Jacked Humans
- Really Jacked Humans
- Short humans
- Humans with pointy ears
- Humans with cat ears
- Humans with rabbit ears
- Humans with horns and eczema
- Lion dudes

There's already bird-humanoid races in the game, they're considered beastmen though (i.e. the Ixal, the vanu vanu and their Turalian cousins, and that new race also in Tural coming with DT whose name I can't remember - they wear red shawls and weird masks. And with the FFXI raid coming, I would not be surprised if the Yagudo also appear there too - possibly as a counterpoint to the Ixal).

Meteion doesn't count being a unique entity created 12000 years ago by an Ancient who specalized in bird/aerial creations (and whose whole purpose was to travel the stars for him as a space probe).

You can get the Vanu Vanu gear from doing the beast tribe and dress as a Vanu Vanu. Of course there are various wing fashion accessories as well.

Why would you want more limited races? Bad enough there not going to ever bother fixing Hrothgar and Viera.
