I know i want something that feels like a place: and open world content is essential for that.
Im not sure what people think they want though. I know everyone says "open world." I know most people don't actually do it more than once. I see people needing moogle NMs and no one wanting to do it, theyd rather zip immediately to the fight. Not to mention all the issues i see with folks just trying to get to Castrum Novum (though i assume this is because of peoples weird aversion to fighting/staying in a group in this game or it would be fairly easy). That's not just this FFXIV either, I recall plenty of people having to wait months for Zilart missions.
I see people saying "I don't want to deal with lore for quests." If it was one talk go kill x or y wherever but heaven forbid the story leave the town. They just spam enter on anything that takes more than 5 minutes. Yet they complain guidleves are "impersonal." I don't mind the run around because its about that journey and story even if its simple.
I know claiming over 30 people to fight some monster isn't really fun but that seeing someone else fighting something special is awe inspiring.
Its almost like there might be a balancing point between each end.
Agreed, XI had it all, FFXIV just feels like besides graphics, its always going to be biting at the heel of XI, and never quite getting that same flare XI had, not to say it doesnt have the potential, they just need to focus on adding variety like Rute said instead of content, otherwise all that happens and has been happening for so long now, it that we get about 2-3 months with something new, then boom, something new is implemented, and this keep happening, thus they feel they sufficing the masses, but hold on! i used to like behests, what happened to them.... ummm nothing..... lame, why bother right..... yet they are still a part of them game so surely improove to give lower level players some excitement, notice how everything is end game based.....just take a breath SE and stop adding new content so soon, i stillhave loads to do, stop throwing content in my face, it gets to much, i want same good old content with unexpected twists each time, caravans like rute said withrandom mobs, even speical mobs, surprise attacks that only happen a certain % of time etc, make what we have more exciting then add new content......im ranting nwo and have loads more to say but ill leave it at that

Good post Rute, Glad to see this mentioned! Hopefully this can lead to a few good sneak previews of things to come. I would love more open world events, and end game orientated stuff. However knowing this is still "beta" till 2.0 Makes you wonder what will show in 2.0, after 2.0 and the years to follow. SE has been taking steps in the right direction so far for at least me, the more this game becomes like FFXI the better in my personal opinion. Guess its a wait and see approach for us!
I hope this post reaches out to the Devs, cause im dieing to know whats gonna be open world.
As for Rokien, I usually dont post on the forums, although i read through alot of the posts. I can see why people think you come off as a troll, but even so, Im with ya on most of these thing, cause no matter how much people want to defend all this instance stuff, I think we are all in the same thought as ya man.
We need more open world, hopefully this wont become another stand in Org and win everything. I dont want FFXI v2.0 , but i do want that exploration and mystery that FFXI had. For those who played FFXI, remember teleporting to all the crags? remember finally seeing what was inside it? remember opening an entire new area after completing the crags? All of these things could have taken up to a year to realise depending on how you played and explored that game. I want that

I agree with ya. If SE is hellbent on taking things that worked from wow, they should do the same from their own previous game. They don't have to take every aspect, but they should take few things that worked really well and incorporate it. OP link is a very, very good idea of what SE should do...or any MMO company for that matter.I hope this post reaches out to the Devs, cause im dieing to know whats gonna be open world.

One thing FFXI did right without a doubt is exploration and open world. People complain that they don't want HNM because of the drama, well...content finder ninja lotters have worse drama imo. I've already experienced it with Dark Light gear...and this is without the content finder. Drama will be anywhere people go..just have to learn how to deal with it.
At least the HNM drama/end game drama on XI you'll know who did what and be able to avoid them. But with this content finder..once someone goes back to their own world..who cares?
I much rather deal with HNM/NM camping and "open world" drama then instanced drama. I'll deal with both if I have to idc, but open world is so much more appealing to me.
lol.......
I would love to bring back who has the better bot program. Sounds like fun to me! GO TEAM OPEN WORLD!!
