It's funny because whenever someone says that a sort of instanced/open world hybrid sounds cool (like in your Crystal Tower thread), you immediately shut it down as a bad idea. You sound like you hate Instanced content more than anything.
Im just hopping that it will be like a LIMBUS or Eijenhard ( cnt never spell it) instanced and not like a WOW instance where u warp in, kill a few mobs get to the boss and leave... then repeat over and over.. pressing the same set of keys with notting new or no strategy what so ever...
I shut it down? please do give examples next time.
You realize "open world" stuff didn't last long in EQ and not only what was Open World was on rotation for any respectable guilds.
Funny people use Everquest as an example of a good MMO when it established the themepark mmo trend that we are now seeing come to full fruition.
Timed pop bosses brought out the worst in the playerbase in FFXI. So as long as something like that and monopoly over the content is addressed, I've absolutely no problem against world bosses.I just miss being able to watch other people fight outside of Youtube and the feeling those epic monsters gave the area around them.
I snuck past Xolotl more times than I wanted too, and that darn Ash Dragon. I also enjoyed how NM's could be multi purpose in that sense, they could make entry to some areas harder than if they were defeated nothing got your blood pumping like avoiding that poison grass near Xolotl lol.
I kind of like the idea of world bosses being provoked by a specific method that requires your company to be on cooldown a while so other companies could get a shot at it. Doing it that way keeps the idea that the monster can be spawned more frequently as well.
Powerful bosses roaming the world, no, I've no problem with that. I'd love a good show myself. I do not, however, want to see the sort of monopoly and greed that came out of FFXI's old world boss system. I'd rather then make the fight harder, and give everyone a fair shot at it. Dosen't have to be instanced if you can keep the botters and hoggers at bay.
I think other linkshells should just get better at organizing themselves and claiming instead of implementing some sort of HNM affirmative action designed to hinder the most effective endgame linkshells...
You are extremely one sided and very much full of yourself. Every time someone says something you don't agree you respond in a hostile manner and have to use caps constantly. This OP is actually a reasonable person, you are no where near reasonable.
To OP: I don't believe that SE will give information that they value until their marketing campaign which is scheduled in August. However, it is definitely good to give your opinions in an organized manner so that SE can see what people would like in 2.0. Though I don't see many changes to their original plan happening until after 2.0, so the best chance of there being a plentiful amount of open world content is if they had already planned for it.
Personally, I'm at the point where while I enjoy instanced content more, I do see the good that open world content does and would also like to see it added in the game. Which is why I know that the only thing I can do to find out is wait for the marketing campaign.
