Moogle tomes are fine for what it's meant to be. The most common criticism of these events is always that they already have everything on offer. Well yeah that's because these events aren't meant for you. It's meant for returning players who didn't play through and farm the mounts or the minions. The more you play the less these events will matter to you. That's not an issue with the selection or the event itself it just means it's not meant for you. Maybe they could offer some kind of other incentive for veterans. Maybe you get bonus tomestones or something. Maybe the unique reward shouldn't be an accessory but a body piece so they'll at least want to farm the first 100. Otherwise I think these events have always been fine and do just what they need to.

Exactly. This is something to allow players to get things they don't currently have and people who play more and do more things in the game are going to have more of the rewards. And rewards need to appeal to a wide variety of player levels, which is what we see every time.Moogle tomes are fine for what it's meant to be. To the OP, I enjoy the variety. I hope they continue this in the future.

Uhhh its worse than i thought. The fates are 10 tomes per week.

I'm rather indifferent towards the changes. It's not like the original methods were good or engaging, but I don't find this new method particularly interesting either. Just feels a bit like a time waster when you still spend most of your time farming the same few instances if you are in a rush.
The real issue for me is the rewards this time are a real bummer for me. Also kinda surprised they didn't add a dragon this time around.

The format is good. They finally added a better way to be directed into old content and including non-battle content too. It was a good surprise.
Obviously the rewards are still bafflingly bad. We're still in the template of only having one new unique item per event and it has no glamour value because accessories are too small for anyone to notice them. They should do anything else instead of glam accessories.

The only thing I was still missing was a music roll, which, strangely enough, I didn't have yet.
After two Minimog, I had this music roll.
That was it!
End of part 1 of this Mog-Mog collection!
Pretty little!
What good are the nice new changes if there are too few rewards?
Previous moogle hunts were grindy, this one looks chill.
Now I can do fates towards shared fate progress AND get moogle tomes for it?
Pretty good!
Also, just to add this in. Fomo is bad. Stop doing fomo. You know what would've been cool since you're stealing an idea Wow stole from you in the first place, but add the fomo into this new journal compendium thing. Let me earn things I missed. Be better than Wow and not the same.
Lackluster rewards or not, they can only give so many things before they start recycling previous mog tome rewards anyway. We can't have everything end up as a mog tome purchasable or else the rewards from other parts of the game would turn into "wait for the mog event, it'll eventually be there". This is very much a case of picking your poison. Like we're already at a point where I have everything already in the catalog. I doubt I am the only one here. Aside from the grand prize item which I'll give people that point. For the rest of the rewards on the list, I just assume these events are more for catchup and newer players.
The Mog tome event could give out previous seasonal item rewards in a sort of "second chance" and people would still say it lacks luster because they already own them.
The Mog tome event has never been about vet players, it's been about repopulating the earliest parts of the game for newer players. To fill queues, to help them catch up, and to give them something to grind on their way to the current patch. This just gives vets something to do in the meantime if they just happen to not have anything in the catalog yet. The overfocusing on the rewards or Crystal Tower raids is proof that people don't realize what the event is meant to accomplish. Secondly, the event is titled "The first hunt for Genesis". This means that the rewards will cycle out. Better rewards will likely come later on. Like thinking about why the change happened in the first place. It's probably because previous versions of the event led to the player base mostly grinding the same three methods for tomes which was counterintuitive to the purpose. This has spread people out much more. The entire free login-campaign period is even happening during the tome event. It's a marketing strategy to bring more players in.
