Thoughts On: The Hunting Log - Update for Dawntrail

How about update the Hunting Log to a "full" bestiary log (with photos) for the entire game, including Fate/Dungeon/Trials/Raids, etc.

Advanced mode (Tier II)could include positions on maps just like gathering log.

Advanced+ Mode(Tier III) mode could give daily or weekly % modifiers for monsters to drop crafting loot.

Advanced++ Mode (Tier IV) could be a weekly target for each type of content to unlock +25-50 crafting items ?

You could go up in tiers until you've unlock all Bestiary tiers by completed X amount of completions?

I would personally love this. I completed my hunting log today while leveling my summoner to 50 and was reminded of how enjoyable it was. I did fates in between which were very active for ARR zones, especially in the morning, and had a good time. I was thinking about how much I'd love to have more to do, and as an Omni crafter your drop idea is great

hunting log was replaced with hunt system. and there's the bi-color gemstones. if they wanted to keep the hunting log going they would have.

Focus. The main idea is of a beastiary and locator. @DrWho2010. While I recognize that the hunting log has morphed into the hunt system, at "endgame" what's the point of the experience system. In fact, all these content what's the point of doing fates, leve's, etc. Once experience is capped, which is the best part of role playing games, that is to say unlocking level and abilities, it becomes only a gear grind which is like 1% the enjoyment of getting a level or new ability. The "drops" tokens to buy mostly useless stuff from "nut" npcs arent worth it, and I've already geared up at that point. In Fact, its insulting to make me buy gear again I've already bought for "glam".

As an "endgame" player the only incentive for me as a omni-job player is to help everything become easier. If there a system where I don't have to grind out everything and leve, hunt log, etc can make "gathering items" especially animal drops with their low drop rates. I don't really care about the "economy" since I do 98% of everything by myself.

Purchasing crafting loot from gems gained during SB and EW Fates is already a thing. So, there's one reason to continue, along with the other items one can purchase from the gem vendors.

The "nuts" allow for the purchase of tier-gear for alt jobs ... and a number of other items for glamour, et cetera, as well as XP for those alts. Some people prefer to get XP that way -- and yes, it's sad when all of your jobs at level 90 are capped and you already have better gear. But before that point, it's an easy way to go. And you can always purchase the tier-gear and sell it for the General Company seals.

As for the concept of a Bestiary ... sure. Let's do that.

so you only want to upend the system because you're bored. not a good reason to change it because it works for everything else. go do something else.

I'd leave the hunting log alone or find some other reason to complete it (like job specific gear).

The point of the hunting log, back in early ARR, was that it provided a way to gain experience back when there were less options for gaining experience. If I recall, leveling roulette wasn't released until later in the ARR patch cycle. Dungeon experience was pretty bad as well, initially. People just farmed FATEs for experience. And early on, FATEs didn't adjust to the server population in the zone. So, if you weren't an AOE range job, your ability to get experience on physical damage jobs that couldn't gap-close was fairly limited.

Once leveling roulette came out and dungeon experience was upped, the only point of the hunting log was to get a job to 15 so they could run dungeons for better experience.

With there being a plethora of ways to gain experience now, the current role of the hunting log is moot.

I would actually love for the introduction of a bestiary into the game. I know we take down all enemies usually but would be fun.

Alternately they need to update some achievements to list enemies. I specifically mean the B,A and S rank achievements.

A bit of a pain trying to get the ones for A ranks and not knowing what ones you did already
