    Windows 7/Vista UAC Client Crashes

If experiencing FFXIV client crashes, the Windows User Account Control could be the issue (sort of)

The User Account Control is a system in Windows 7 and Vista that prevents unauthorized programs from executing without your permission. (The pop-up window asking permission to run will appear)

How does this effect the FFXIV Client?
    - When something asks for permission it will cause the Directx Device (Video Card) to stop for a moment (Screen Flicker). This causes the Client to Crash. (i.e. The notorious Java Update Client will attempt to update only during the most heated battles)

-But you didn't see a pop-up and it still crashed? There are some processes that when checked, Windows decides are ok. This process of checking still glitches the Directx Device.

I am in no way saying to disable the UAC (although you may need to). But if you are experiencinig multiple D/C's, this is something to check for.

UAC is pretty much only relevant if you download lots of questionable material. otherwise, disable it .

Indeed. It's what I like to call "false security". UAC causes more problems than it solves.
