Gen X was the first to have a computer lab inside their schools, and learning how to use them was considered fundamental in order to enter the working world because they were becoming so prevalent and required among businesses. PC, or personal computer, didn't start entering homes until the early 90's, and even then, there still wasn't a readily available internet to connect them to their businesses. Even the latest of Gen X, which is the group I was born into graduated high school without the internet. As for television and radios, your statistic is far overblown. Perhaps 90% of successful homes had them, and you are not accounting for lower class to lower middle class. I will give you radios alone, but I was more or less referring to households having both a television and a radio, but you were still considered upper middle class if this was the case. TVs by themselves was much different. Most households couldn't afford them and still used radios and reading as primary sources of information and entertainment. When I talk about it wasn't until the 80's that they were found in most homes, I'm talking about that is how long it took before it was nearly impossible to find a home that didn't have at least one TV, and if you did, it was likely deliberately and not due to poverty.

It is even better explained here https://www.cbsnews.com/news/college...ing%20platform
The reason many have removed bachelor's degree requirements from job listings is actually due to excessive occurrences of employers hiring someone that did little more than rehearse their job interview answers to get hired only to end up a burden due to not being able to perform their job duties or functions while focusing on excuses and attempts at labeling things as microaggressions in an attempt to avoid consequences or obtain preferential treatment. Employers began finding it more cost effective to hire people not exposed to lower level college culture and expend the resources to train them themselves.

Part of the cause to be fair was all of the pro college degree propaganda thrown around a few decades ago where it was basically being thrown out all over the place that by just having a degree you would instantly make X amount more money. This resulted in people having the view of "Ok lets get this 2nd piece of paper to instantly have more money"

Another part is the colleges themselves being more interested their revenue stream than actually educating the people they collected money from.

and before you say I'm not being sympathetic- to anyone who's been laid off, you have my sincere sympathy- however please do not make any statements about how SpeCial Gen X is with respect to your problem solving or resiliency, when prior generations lived through horrendous wars, depressions, and other events. All generations have their trials.
The tiktoker in your link is Gen Z. She's in her early 20's and just graduated from uni.

Here is an actual Gen Xer

I also never said Gen X is special. I said they have developed problem solving skills due to having to essentially raise themselves because their parents were never home. No need to get hurt if you were born to a younger generation and you think I'm saying you're weak. I am fully aware that older generations had it rougher than us. That is what we were constantly told anytime we sulked or had a bad day. I am also aware that millennials and zoomers most certainly have their own problems. Find where I said they didn't.

Yeah... I did the Killer tomato thing too at one point as well... They made a movie to poke fun at it...

I've always enjoyed experimenting and learning new things. I also collect stuff that piques my interest. Though I recently knocked over and broke a vial of something labeled Tyrant Virus that was covered in dust on a shelf. I don't think it's anything to worry about though. I'm pretty sure they made a vaccine for it already.

    First paragraph.

It wasn't even the 80's. It wasn't until the 90's that the figure reached 98% of homes having at least one television set, so admittedly I was a bit off. My bad.

I haven't done a lot of extensive research into this, but based off just a scrapping of information I am privy to there is a massive disconnect between what four-year college graduates are demanding in salaries opposed to the actual skill they bring to a workforce. One of the reasons for these post graduate high demands are the six-figure amounts of debt they owe as a result of their education, and that is due to the massive increase to tuition since the 1960's, which has easily tripled since then. There is a lot of indoctrination and propaganda that takes place in grade school fooling students into believing they need a college education to be successful, and while this may still be true for specialized career fields such as mechanical engineering, law, and medical, a ton of jobs out there requiring a bachelor degree level of education has been for the most completely false.

Many employers have realized that it is far easier, cheaper, and more effective to give hands on training on the job to their new employees. The education system for the most part is a cash grabbing scam and is essentially legal extortion that takes advantage of impressionable minds, but this is just my opinion.
