Wouldn't be better to add mixed races from current existing ones than make new ones?

I know, i'm a bit late to the party, but, again, Mr. Yoshida (or whoever) says, finally, fem beast cat are released, it's the last one folks... but if you guys want/demand more, there will be more.

So, like in the title. Wouldn't be better (if they add anything), to start adding mixed races from current existing ones? I mean, it would still be a huge painful amount of work, but atleast you don't have to create complete new assets from the start.

In my case I wouldn't mind having an Au'Ra/Elezen with elf ears and scales for example.

The reason they don't want to add more is that if they have to design a new skeleton it means adjusting the gear for it as well. If they make heads with different kinds of features such as ears or horns, it means adjusting all the hats for it. That means every time they add a new race, making new gear becomes a bigger burden, causing them to want to make less gear overall which, according to some people, has been the case.

I did learn from watching a developer panel that they have mostly automated this process now. They can get one of their tools to convert the gear to fit other races. Sometimes they will still have to make adjustments, but it does most or all of the work. Apparently WoW recently solved this issue as well, using AI.

There is one mixed race that would be awesome.

Half Elezen. Half Elves are a trope in fantasy games, and this one would definitely be popular to fill in that archetype. It technically already has a basis in the game, we just have only seen one.

Depending how they implement the half races, it could be a lot easier than just adding a whole new race. If you selected Half Elezen, it would likely just use Hildas existing model style, which is essentially just a hyur with pointy ears, and a few extra elezen features tacked on. It's not a lot of effort, but looks cool, and wouldn't be a bad thing to add to the game, nor would it take a lot of resources. The clothing could almost entirely be copied and pasted over from hyur.

Perhaps unique voices, and animations could be added to flesh them out, but the base would be mostly what we already have to begin with. Just with an added male version that takes from male midlander. If anything this isn't really a "new race" but more of an improvement to customization.

Another way to resolve this would be to add half elf ears as an option in the character customization for hyur.
