Player housing, with a twist!

Hey guys, what if you had the option of sharing your house with another player?

Like if you happen to be playing with someone you're dating in real life (for example, it could be for whatever reason you want), you could get one house that's twice as big as normal and share that instead of having one normal size house each. If you logged in while they were offline and resting in their bed, you'd see them lying on the bed and stuff. It could also be one double sized bed instead of two separate ones, or whatever sort of bed you decided on buying. You should be able to change the furniture in there anyway, right?

Of course, this isn't something that everyone would be using, so obviously it should be entirely optional. Additionally, you should be able to move out and get a normal house anytime you wanted, and your stuff would be coming with you.

This sort of reminds me of SWG in a way. Not everyone wants a private "home". People will decorate to get the atmosphere they desire and willingly open their houses up at every opportunity.

A career DOH might want their own Workshop that players can visit and purchase items from that players retainer. In SWG there were always renowned skilled and reliable crafters you would take note of and return to when you needed something new.

A career DOL might not want nothing more than a Caravan or Market Stall to peddle their raw materials.

A more social or RP person might want their own Inn/Pub where they can host RP events and meetings (similar to Cantinas in SWG)

A beastmaster might want their own Barn to line up all their pets in.

I definitely approve of this idea, being able to share a house with another player if you decide or even one large "linkshell" type housing would be even better. Hopefully they'll implement something like that along with Free Companies, personal "hangout" areas for each Free Company that would let you decorate a small room for each member. But back on the subject of shared homes if they ever implement a marriage system into the game it'd work perfectly with this option. As long as they don't go overboard and make it into like a mini-Sims game within FFXIV...

Friends / Players visiting is ok...like in FFXI, where party members could come in & have look around.
But... with a Major But ^-^, that was only cool for one reason & one reason only... to show off your funky stuff such as furnitures, event items you gathered over the years etc.

Something FFXIV is completly lacking & most of us old FFXI vets want back,
especially with an advanced Crafting system that we have.

So... Still insanly high hopes Furnitures can be crafted & placed
in housing in 2.0 at some point.

(imo it would be fantasticly stupid NOT to implement such things)

Well, they already had some items for furniture creation at launch if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure they intend to put them to use at some point.

Hey, if you really want to share housing, just start a guild/PC house and have a 2 person guild/PC...

You can only be in one FC at one time.

I don't see why this would be a big deal. Make it so only the person who placed the items can move them, and it wouldn't hurt anyone.
Don't even have to get married to live together.

Well if the house is double in size while sharing one, then both players should go back to a house of the normal size. Character tags to any items of course apply.

That should keep it fair I think.
