I've been playing, but I avoid Shatter because ew. Been busy with the new stuff outside PvP, but I play more regularly late at night with my friends.

I would like to give my thanks to the entire region of NA for birthing Drake.
I think it's a pretty fun mode, all things considered... A lot of entertainment for sure;
that being, I can't find the exact post but I vividly remember someone saying who wanted to get better at pvp-frontline will be very discouraged by the current state of frontline and with all the premade. I'd argue it was the opposite effect in fact, I know a fair share of players who never really enjoyed frontline that much and really got into it as they learnt how to position themselves, what comps are good, what to priotize etc and definitely enjoyed the sweatier games... Of course it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's not driving every single players away

That's completely fair. Some people do like a sweatier environment and/or simply value mounts and glam and want to get there as quickly as possible by maximizing their win-rate.I think it's a pretty fun mode, all things considered... A lot of entertainment for sure;

The issue is that many people do not feel like that. The solo and party styles and goals are simply very different, and forcing them together in what is supposed to be a casual entry into PvP in general is causing a lot of friction.

To add to that, people who do enjoy the premade playstyle naturally congregate on the Discord servers where such premades are formed via the LFG and voice channels. In other words, they are immersed in an echo chamber of like-minded individuals where everyone agrees that this playstyle is wonderful.
This is why I've previously attributed the current issues partly to a SM problem. If you're surrounded by a group of people who like a given playstyle and laud the commanders producing it, it becomes difficult to understand that there is a wider community that does not like the playstyle one bit, and their resulting hostility to said commanders.

Friendly reminder that the players who are ACTUALLY cheating speed hacks, cc immunities, clipping through map, teleport hacks whom actually received a ban for hacking just come back right after their temporary ban. SE apparently just slaps you on the wrist and says don't do it again and be a good boy when cheating/hacking in a video game should be a permanent ban no questions asked. You'll see them come right back after their short ban break and do the same ol' thing on their throwaway account.
Not to mention that these players go around doing what they do for months on end before any actual repercussions occur when they're reported for cheating daily by various different players. SE moderation in PvP is basically non existent unless you type something unhinged in chat. Let's also not forget that the support desk/report system is so archaic that we have to manually fill out an entire field box with information rather than have a QoL feature of right-click -> report functionality. What's even the point of bothering with this system when we constantly see the same names in the game openly hacking day to day.
Thankfully these days the hackers are pretty much nonexistent/rare to see. Please don't let certain players copium of believing that anyone who actually knows how to PvP/survive in PvP deter you from thinking this game mode is full of cheaters when in reality its full of people who don't even care for the game mode at all/afk/collect their duty roulette optimal EXP/tomes.
The staff responsible for PvP issues is kinda sad compared to the average GMs that handle the rest of the game. We had clear case of win trading in one of the early seasons, sent tons of proof and it took weeks until they got served, yet they came back almost instantly and only lost their points.Friendly reminder that the players who are ACTUALLY cheating speed hacks, cc immunities, clipping through map, teleport hacks whom actually received a ban for hacking just come back right after their temporary ban. Do you have a feeling for why the problem has gone away? Like you note penalties are minimal and take a long time to be enforced, yet currently the problem is minimal.Friendly reminder that the players who are ACTUALLY cheating speed hacks, cc immunities, clipping through map, teleport hacks whom actually received a ban for hacking just come back right after their temporary ban. If by the problem you mean hackers then I can only just make assumptions. These hackers usually use their throwaway service accounts as to not get banned on their main accounts. So you're paying a monthly subscription to meme/have fun with cheats in a game mode just to get a reaction from players. Hackers have always been rare in case and usually if there is a notorious hacker its usually the same person playing on different alts using the same hacks, they're pretty obvious they're the same player. Can only guess they get bored of doing it/want to lay low because they finally did receive a ban.
PvP in this game mode speaks for itself in that not very many players actually care about it and the few that do care more than likely wouldn't bother cheating to gain an advantage as there's not very much to even cheat for reward wise. The last notorious hacker afaik did what they did because of drama with other players who they believed take the game mode too seriously and wanted to trigger them/get reactions/get back at them, etc.
