Here's an analogy that might help clarify.

Imagine you go to the park and get a pick-up game of soccer/football underway. Everyone is having fun kicking the ball around getting some fresh air and exercise and engaging in some friendly competition.

Then a small group turns up. One of them announces that she is captain. She immediately starts issuing orders, telling the other players where to go and what to do. Her group turn out to be the midfield of Man Utd's cup-winning women's team.

How do you suppose all the other players feel about this?
