EX Trials & Use Of The Word "FARM" In Party Finder

    Hello all!

Older player here who is currently working on the trial mounts for EW. As I work towards the longer-term goal of collecting the mounts I notice that the word "FARM" appears to be used differently in PF than it was during earlier EXPacs.

I know that our community has grown quite a lot since ARR and that words will shift meaning to fit the needs of our people. I also understand that this could just be my personal experience, or simply my imagination...

That said, I wonder what the term "FARM" means to you in the zeitgeist; the end of EW. How do you use it when posting in PF for EX Trials?

Apologies if I posted this in the wrong thread.

"Farm" means you do multiple runs with the same group over a longer period of time with the goal to collect a certain item.

That also includes that you know what you are doing and not cause wipes and waste everyone's time.

Hmmm. Yes. That is indeed what I took it to mean as well. In earlier EXPacs, joining a FARM party meant you had mastery over the trial and were not still practicing the mechanics. The trouble is that I have recently experienced an increasing number of parties with the word "FARM" containing players who definitely still practicing the mechanics. In 2016, for example, if you wanted to practice mechanics I think we listed the party as a "practice party" or "duty completion." Apologies I don't remember what year those filters were added. The word "practice;" however, was typically in the text of the PF ad. Again, this could be my personal experience, or just my imagination...
I was just checking to see if the word is now being used to describe all parties, regardless of skill at the trial, or if it could just a word being picked up by newer players who are in the process of learning the lingo.

It's not that the word or understanding of "farm" in farm party has changed, they're just lying to you.

In extremely rare occasions they can be a trap party - meaning someone who has cleared the EX Trial hosts the party finder and sneaks in their friend who has yet to clear, in an effort to get a group of only players who are experienced with the fight. Honest players host these as KFF (Kill For Friend) parties.
It's only happened once to me on EX5 of this expansion, but it left a sour taste in my mouth and explained why we were having so much trouble just clearing the fight at all.

Make sure you look out for the message when loading into the zone that says something like "One or more people are yet to complete this trial, you'll get a bonus of X Tomestones for duty completion". I missed it.

But to answer your question, the term hasn't changed, and outside of the rare scenario above, some players might just be bad/unfocused/only cleared once.
