It's also something that they've asked the player base not to do because it messes with the housing servers in some way. There's definitely not enough spaces atm. I wanted to add details to rooms, but quickly ended up at the limit.
The one thing I do love about people who glitch is the ability to get into the "void" outside the area. I remember someone's large I was in once that had a bed up there and a bunch of those flower rugs. It's a really surreal place lol.
It also wouldn't be necessary if they gave us better controls for housing, including lighting.
Extremely. That was another thing that RIFT Dimensions excelled at. They had light sources in a variety of sizes and color tones where the light emitting object would be invisible except in Build mode. I had set up a tunnel in one Dimension with lighting that started at the red end of the spectrum and finished at blue.
Honestly The lack of lighting options and the overpowering radius and annoying placement of the pre-determined lighting is the bane of my existence. As for technical issues I think that is more related to actual void-builds vs glitching within the box because the engine has issues drawing stuff outside of the predetermined area and what it does is it causes the record for item placement to glitch out often (this results in weird scenarios where you place a item; leave the house and return and its like the item was never moved; no matter how many times you move it; to fix you have to return the item to inventory and place it again)Extremely. I would like to control the lighting on my floors individually!Extremely. That was another thing that RIFT Dimensions excelled at. Yes, or even place additional chandeliers, but that would require a bit of tweaking so you could place things on ceilings, which would’ve been nice when they made the skylights!
I generally have the back of my small’s basement partitioned off into a different area, and it would be nice to be able to move the chandelier position and/or add a second for better lighting.
Same here. I wish they would give us actual mechanisms to place furniture on top of lofts or windows onto partitions. I don't use 3rd party tools and glitching can require a lot of strategizing and be very time consuming but it opens up creative possibilities. I'm constantly amazed at what people can do with FFXIV housing. I was explaining to friends how it's like being given toothpicks and staples and being able to build the Taj Mahal.I do minimal glitching, only because it can be frustrating sometimes depending on what you’re trying to do… I have maybe 10 or so items out of my 200 limit that are placed with glitches. Mostly the storage placement glitch and the disable counter placement glitch because I find those easiest to work with, and easiest to change around when there’s new items I want to add, or when I decorate for the various seasons/holidays. But I do have two floor sofas that I floated on to lofts! I only tend to float things I know I’m not going to want to move around.
I can understand that people are uncomfortable making use of glitches. I didn't at first either. The first time I tried it, I found it so awkward and tedious that gave up for a bit. But now, I hope they don't "fix" it without giving us an alternative.
Limitation Breeds Creativity, and the time consuming nature really pays off when that vision comes together and it goes from a jumbled mess of items lying around to the beautiful clean layout of a well designed spaceSame here. Apartment
I was trying make a cabin feel, and have a simple loft for bed and table. Being new to glitch, I didn't rotate lock it. (finish the video next time). After not doing that lock three times and losing all progress three times. I give up. Not touching that garbage system again.
Ruin my mood to even play the game.
(Even if this game had jobs that only use one button. Min-max people would still Min-max the heck out of the one button)
I can drop by to help you out with it. It really ends up being muscle memory when you get the idea down.Apartment
